Sword Art Online - Being Lisbeth is suffering! Now main story?!

Hello,

Let's talk about the seventh episode of the summer season 2012 anime series named Sword Art Online that introduces a new recurring side-character in the story named Lisbeth.

I have to say that while I expected Lisbeth to be just "yet another girl for Kirito to get into his harem", I was not expecting her to be actually this good in terms of personality/looks.

The combination between cheerful personality, beauty and in-game skills (blacksmith) really surprised me, and I hope the writer is going to give her more screentime in the future.

I'm quite curious about how is structured Sword Art Online's weapons crafting system. Considering that Lisbeth wasn't sure until the end about what item she was going to create reminds me of Diablo 3 entirely randomized stat system.

That could prove tricky, because depending on the luck of the crafter you may end up with an utterly useless item (rolling all low values or unrelated statistics).

By the way, I was amazed by the improved animation in this episode. It was extremely better than what they've shown during the Kobold King battle and I really hope they'll continue with this style in the main story as well...

After watching this short video scene my first thought was "This is such an awesome way/situation to declare your love to someone!", but it is a shame that the declaration failed completely.

Truth to be said, we all know that Asuna is the one that will conquer Kirito's heart, especially if we consider the heavy hints present in the opening animation.

However, I can't help, but cheer for Lisbeth and I'm starting to think that she may even become my favourite character of this series...

Yes, we are now officially out of the side-stories with this episode and starting from next episode we'll tackle the content of the first volume of the novel that is the "actual" story of Kirito and Asuna within Aincrad.

Next episode is titled "Black and White Sword Dance" that must be referring (at least I hope) to some epic boss battle with Asuna and Kirito as main characters.

After seven episodes, I have to say that Sword Art Online's content was really a rollercoaster jumping from bad quality episodes to great quality episodes. Hope they'll stabilize it with the main story arc.

Concluding, Sword Art Online continues to entertain me and I keep looking forward to watch and blog about this series in the future as well.

Well, it depends if you have the "dual wielding skill" or not. Strangely nobody till now in the game was a dual wielding swordsman, maybe its a special skill?

Also, I wonder if there is a way to dye the weapons in the game. It would be a lot cooler to have two black sword or not?

I really hope they won't pull a "he has that power because he's special" crap...that would be quite underwhelming, don't you agree?

yeah...that would definitely be lame. I mean, the fact that he was a beta tester and solo player making him stronger is fine, but if they pull some "chosen one" garbage, then we're in trouble.

Yeah, quite a good matching name and I hope the battle will be awesome enough to be up to par. I mean, we're seriously lacking good battles in this anime series up to now...

However, I would like to see more Asuna fighting too. She has that nickname referring to her speed, but we really know little about her fighting capabilities in the recent past or not?

Mhn...why can't I say clearly "that won't happen" this time around?

She will likely be the "many hits, low damage" kind of fighter I think. Using a very low damage weapon (very light sword) with an abnormally high attack speed.
That implies she won't be the "final attack" character, and I wonder who in the her guild take that role...

I always say it confidently! For example "Chiyuri did not betray anyone!"! see?

sadly no one else knows the other skills cause you know the game ended too prematurely only Heathcliff's Holy Guard and Kirito's Dual Weild were mentioned through and through sadly they had to cut his appearance during the murder in the area animation

yes that is indeed true Reki Kawahara is now writing the SAO arc side stories that span from floor 1-75 or the events that transpired in between the mentioned floors from the published light novel but you know he's busy write now reworking Alicization to fit into the published novels

why lizbeth why would you get out in the middle of the battle and ignore kirito warning...hmm most people that watch fight happen to fall to this too ignoring the one that is fighting and get out from cover in the middle of the fight...

speaking of kirito his cloth change again this one is better in my opinion better than the previous one he wear before...his speed must be insane to climb that wall and to think because of that fall he manage to have a new weapon...the feeling when you work hard and get a weapon equal to the trouble is priceless...the dragon lose rather easily though considering kirito level is no surprise the question does the dragon spawn again?

and then there is the drama that i won't mention and kirito got most of his item free now...

Well, she's just a girl with little to no experience in the rpg area. What can you expect from her?

He's now in his final clothing when the real story begins, together with the two powerful swords. I really wonder what will be the next boss to challenge!

Not sure about respawns, but I suppose that yes he will respawn. Otherwise it would be too unconvenient for other players...

seem to be a unique trait for every people that watch the battle get out of cover and start to try help the one fighting even when they can't do anything and is afraid of dying...

hmm perfect the monster respawn the player do not there is no message saying you will respawn in 3..2..1 this is why and i'm not being sarcastic here sao is an amazing game it is not afraid to lost it's player...

Well, yes! That's something that happens quite often, but I'll forgive when it happens to such a lovely girl.

I don't know much about what happen from now on with the guildmaster (so that's spoiler). We'll see in the future episodes I suppose.

Ahahah, ironically yes. They have no fear to lose players, but that's because they trapped the players inside the game. I wonder if they still ask for subscription fees...

It's hard to say how major a character Lisbeth will be if she was introduced in a side story like that. I imagine she'll be important to Kirito, since she provides such a good service, but like you said, I don't see her winning out in the end.

I expect the new girl will get the axe..or sword literally next time, they dont get to live long. I enjoy some of this series but like some of the darker anime, i dont enjoy the constant presence of death hanging over it, but i suspect that is to give the series story a thrill for kids in Japan whose daily lives may not have many more challenges than the constant exams and what snack to get at the convenience store after school....and club affairs of course.

Aw man poor Liz, she is such a nice girl. I think out of these side story girls she might be the one I liked the most. I hope we see more of her in the future. Such a shame about her botched confession though but it did seem like Kirito got what she meant. I hope at least anyways.

I was quite pleased with this episode, the battle with the dragon and subsequent escape was nicely done. Might be one of the better episodes so far.

I share your hopes for the next episode, can't wait to see what happens.

Well, in the end we all know that Kirito is never going to go with her, but I liked her personality a lot more than Asuna till now.

Yeah, finally the animation was up to par with other shows of this season and I really hope they'll even improve further in the following episodes.

A shame really, I liked Lisbeth's character as well, she had a nice tomboyish personality and a fun unyielding sort of relationship with the apathetic and eccentric Kirito. I really hope that she'll be brought in again in the main story but it depends on how they intend to adapt it I guess, either strictly and quickly as they have done so far, or with some effort to make use of the stuff that these past six or so episodes have covered. The former is probably more likely.

Seeing Lisbeth declare that she loved Kirito was pretty awesome though, a little rushed in getting there after only a single day, but that scene and the things that came with it were nicely set out. Then Asuna came in and crushed any thing happy that this episode had. Being Lisbeth must really be suffering, especially when you consider the position she'll be in the episodes to come.

It all depends on how much they want to cover of the second world/story...because Aincrad's story just isn't enough to fill in all the remaining episodes (and the story would look weird anyway if they try and make tons of fillers).

I loved the declaration scene, very well animated for once.

Yeah, best friend of Asuna must be a very inconvenient situation for that poor girl. I hope she'll find happiness sooner or later in the outside world...

whaaat Im happy to see so many Lisbeth fans! to the OP, I completely agree with everything you said! that scene of them falling was great. I finished episode 7 a bit ago and had to rewatch the end. It honestly makes me so sad

I normally dont go around rooting for different side-story characters, but this one almost makes me mad at Asuna. When Liz cried D: I hope they bring her back more. It leaves me longing..and Im not one to go crazy about anime pairs either.

And Im slightly confused Ive been hearing on here and another forum about TWO different games in the story? do you like recover from SAO and go into ANOTHER virutal reality MMO or something expecting to be safe from what happened before? haha anyways I hope they make Asuna to be as likeable as Liz cuz so far Liz>Asuna most def.

Yes, and well Kirito had a reason for going back into the game, not sure about the other ones though...
