Hello,
Today we'll talk about the first episode of the summer season 2012 anime series Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita that somehow delivers the most unexpected first episode of the whole season till now.
The story premise is quite simple and revolves around a world where human population declined to the point where the civilization lost most of their technology.
In this world the other most prosperous race is the "fairies" one, that on the other side looks a lot more advanced compared to humans. The story follows one girl named "Watashi" that somehow get involved with the fairy world.

Just by reading the premise I would say "oh, that's a charming premise!", but after watching the first episode my opinion ended up becoming quite different.
The animation from AIC A.S.T.A. was great and all the characters looked like imported from a fairytale. The animation was smooth and generally of high quality.
We can probably say the same for the seiyuu, because we have big names like Mai Nakahara (Reimi Odajima from Bamboo Blade, Rena Ryugu from Higurashi, etc..) in Watashi's role, Hisako Kanemoto, etc...
...but just as you can see from this small scene, the content of this series is completely random. I've watched the first episode two times and I really still don't understand it...
Ok, so we have talking bread that kill himself in a bloody scene while explaining its not real blood. All of this in order to be eaten by Watashi...
If this was Shining Bread, I could even forgive them, but...I really don't know what to say here. Does this have any hidden meaning?

I fully expect this series to be heavily discussed in the anime blogosphere, because as soon as the content get "cloudy" lots of people will start to speculate about what are the hidden meanings behind each scene...:P
Next episode will probably delve deeper into the food factory with Watashi discovering more and more about the strange creatures who "live" within it.
I'm not sure if I should be eager to know more about the story, or I should be scared about the possible outcomes...

Concluding, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita is an interesting series with a strange story to follow. I'm not going to cover this reguarly, but I'll keep watching because they surely got my attention! :D
See you soon,
