Tasogare Otome X Amnesia - Is that really an happy end for Yuuko?

Hello,

Today we'll talk about the 11th episode of the anime series Tasogare Otome X Amnesia that completes Yuuko's backstory and allow us to have a full picture of her current status as a ghost.

She was just a very common ghost from the beginning till the very end. She had regrets for her death and is still lingering in this world for this very reason.

I do understand her pain after knowing how she actually died and I can somehow understand her actions. Who wouldn't have regrets after dying in such an horrible way?

The episode was entirely focused on Yuuko and Niiya facing up their own issues while Momoe and Kirie, on the other side, played out a supporting role for the couple.

Niiya was unsure about what to do to heal up Yuuko's pain, while Yuuko was just trying to avoid her death indefinitely by "discarding every memory linked to her death".

Happy end or is it? Yuuko and shadow Yuuko are merged back into a single entity, but the question now is "why is she still on earth together with the protagonist?".

I mean, if her regrets are solved she should be moving on next life in peace right? Instead we see her happily embracing our protagonist like nothing happened.

I'm also a bit "unhappy" about this easy way to solve her suffering. Is really that easy for you to forget such a tremendous death and "live" with it?

Not much information is available to speculate on the next episode content. It may be a normal "filler" episode showing the aftermath of the story, or they could actually pull out something special.

I mean, in the bottom of the heart, I do feel that the best ending for everyone is allowing Yuuko to rest in peace. The protagonist must grow up and understand that Yuuko is not a living girl anymore!

Maybe they could put some "cameo" showing a small Yuuko re-born as Niiya and Kirie's child at the very end?

Concluding, Tasogare Otome X Amnesia while pursuing an original story managed to impress me with high production values and gripping storyline. Let's hope the last episode will be up to par...

Well, she looked like she was fading at the end there.
Option 1: Fate/Stay Night ending and she disappears
Option 2: The whole "my feelings for you are strong enough to keep me attached" thing. Less likely because she has started to fade, but still possible.

Somehow I can't decide what is the best ending for me to enjoy this series.

Option 1: Yuuko is away and Niiya marries with someone else? What about my idea of Yuuko re-born as Niiya and Kirie's child?


Option 2: She'll haunt him for the rest of his life?! O_O

Don't forget the Tengen Toppa ending: They get married and then she disappears. And we'll see an epilogue of an old Niiya helping a child with her ghost friend.

Oh god, why you keep remembering me how that poor girl in Tengen Toppa died?! if they only made her survive that could've become one of the best series of all time.

Well he's kind of a manliness badass character for everyone in the community...

Yes, I prefer both Kirie and Momoe over her. I've never been into sexy characters, I do prefer cute types.
I suppose that separate our interest and allows me to take both home?


I hated mainly his personality.

I can agree to that. In that case I'll have Yuuko and her sister(do I need to say her young version?) and wait till I forget (using my shadow) her granny version.

Well he was really irrealistic, and saying that in TTGL anime is...Mechas bigger than a galaxy...mind blows*

For option 2, the question becomes whether or not she lingers after his death. Because if so, that may be a fairly sad ending.

I'm not sure she's relly accepted her past. She simply has Teiichi to share the pain. Her grudge is based on being sacrificed not on the thought of Asa's death. Asa's life only acknowledges Yuuko's own life was worth something after all. I guess she isn't completely over her death just yet.

I'm hoping Yuuko stays with Teiichi forever even if she probably can't leave the school. Moving her bones might solve that or because she joined with her shadow, she no longer has an attachment to the school.

Mhn...she did recover all memories and kept her sanity. I suppose that's like saying that she partially accepted her death isn't it? Otherwise she would have gone crazy the moment they merged back...

Not sure how well that would fare, she's a lingering ghost that in order to get salvation should pass on to next life. Remaining to haunt a random guy isn't a good way to end it is it?

Teiichi isn't some random guy. He likes her just as Momoe said. I await the half human, half ghost children... if it's possible...


Momoe is a great substitute, but only for when Yuuko passes on.

I giuess I can see the end. The scene with the bell at the end implied that Yuuko will vanish after some more time. Thats somehow sad, but Niiya gave her some happy time at least.

Well, he was able touch her and she was able to touch him, but I don't expect that I will see my Yuuko x Niiya romantic happy end.

Momoe is the best choice for me as well, but I wouldn't mind a Kirie ending. She's a good girl as well, just a bit tsun-tsun!

I actually like the question you had on your tweet linking to this post - why is Yuuko still on earth...I think the investigation club has done what was requested...and I thought once she learned about her death she'll disappear in a  twinkling effect...

The anime will probably get is own unique ending. Anything done by a h-artist usually doesn't last long. With the art its possible to stretch the manga, but for anime its not possible. Tasogare ranked 15 out of 20 awhile back when i checked. It was barely above medaka box. And medaka is getting a second season? What idiot would green light it?

Not sure sleepy, I do agree that the story just isn't going anywhere at this point and the anime will likely use an original ending.
Especially giving that the manga is following completely in another direction as far as the 7th volume.

I heard Medaka Box has quite a following in Japan...but can't say for sure...
