Kokoro Connect - Romantic comedy or supernatural adventure?

Hello,

Today we'll talk about one of the most anticipated anime series that is going to air in the upcoming summer season 2012 named Kokoro Connect adapted from a light novel with the same name written by Sadanatsu Anda.

The story revolves around the life of five high school students (three girls and two guys) that are the only members of the cultural club of their school.

At first, I thought this was going to be a mere romantic comedy between three girls and two boys, but it seems things are a lot more complex with the whole body exchange event that is going to be the central focus of the story.

The question is, who's going to switch body with who? The two boys and the three girls will switch bodies separately between themselves?

It's going to be interesting if the exchange will be between males and females as well just like it happened with Kashimashi (an old series from the 2006).

Try to think a male trying to live as a girl for a long period of time with all the mannerisms and relationships to keep in order to not ruin her reputation...:P

What's up with this video? I mean, everything was completely normal for the first part, but then suddenly we get a random guy trying to kill himself.

Will that guy be the main reason for the body exchange somehow or is this a totally unrelated plot event to trigger the exchange?

From the info I got on the net about the original light novel, it looks like a light hearted anime series, but better be careful...:D

I'm quite looking forward to see how this series will get animated because the producer is Silver Link that is quite famous for Cube X Cursed X Curious and Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu that are both series with wonderful animation.

We also have many BIG name seiyuu working on this project like Aki Toyosaki (Yui Hirasawa from K-On) portraying the main heroine Iori Nagase, Miyuki Sawashiro (Celty from Durarara!) portraying Himeko Inaba and so on...

I'm quite looking forward to Takahiro Mizushima's role as Taichi Yaegashi. Why? Well because he's the same seiyuu who voiced Rolo Lamperouge in Code Geass and Fumiaki Uchida in Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin! :D

Concluding, Kokoro connect is one of the most anticipated series of this summer season 2012 for me, and I suggest it to anyone looking for something "a bit different".

It's quite rare to base an entire series around body exchange, I wonder how it'll play out...

Sword Art Online as well is one of my picks for this summer, but I'm trying to keep the hype for a bit more before talking about it. Did you read the original work for it?

I'm pretty sure it's finished. Though for all I know Baka-Tsuki might have missed some stuff when they translated the light novels.

This show sounds pretty intriguing to me, regardless of its similar appearance to K-On. It seems it may deal with some serious topics amidst a more lighthearted atmosphere? I don't know, it might be somber at times.
Kind of curious about how the body-switching will fit in with all this. As Nyarko-san recently showed, it can be quite amusing for a girl to wind up in a boy's body. =P

Yep, that's what I'm speculating judging from the trailer. That guy trying to suicide doesn't look that reassuring...

Ahahah, that's only if the girl is Nyaruko with her dirty mind. That trolling at the end of last episode with the "fake death" was plainly HILARIOUS, isn't it?

Read the first two chapters of manga and it wasn't all that entertaining. Normal body swap stuff. I think that every combination of the five will occur, although I think I only saw two or three swaps. No idea what causes them to happen. I guess it was moderately amusing at first, but I didn't find it all that entertaining.

Mhn...so the swaps are not permanent, but something that changes with time?! Looks interesting, is it plain comedy or has any heavy drama moment as well?

Let's hope the anime will turn out better than the manga then, I'm quite looking forward to this. There aren't that many new series this season (apart from sequels...)

Looked to me like there was some sort of romance budding in the background, but I didn't read enough to be sure. Mostly looked like comedy, honestly. I didn't see a story anywhere.

This and Koi Chocolate w/e w/e were just manga I picked up on whim...surprised they became anime so quickly.

Comedy? That's fine too, but I wonder if its only the first couple of preview chapters to be that way until they tackle something more serious. We'll see as soon as it air I suppose...

Haven't decided whether I wanna go for this show. On the one hand, sounds not so interesting...on the other hand, not many options.

Sounds pretty good, I hope it's more like Asatte no Houkou than Kashimashi but that seems unlikely... But if it's three girls and two guys, hopefully this means we will get one couple and one bisexual love triangle? I can only hope.

Asatte no Houkou is one of the most underrated anime of the recent history, but I loved every part of it. It was a simple story, but really touching!

I'm not sure we're going to get something similar though, this looks more like a romantic story.

Bisexual love triangle? I would love to see that!

From the one volume of the LN I read, it's more of a romantic comedy. It was OK, but didn't really wow me.

I've seen enough body swap humour done well (like in recent One Piece chapters) that I think this could be an interesting series, though they would have to do it really well for it to work. I've also read Kashimashi, so I understand the gender swapping storylines, though it wasn't focused on a lot in that series, so it'll be hard to say if the two will be similar or not. I'm actually rather curious now that I hear you talk about it.

To me Body Swap is something very rare, the most prominent series I remember is Asatte no Houkou and Kashimashi. Both were a bit underrated...

Let's see the first couple of episodes and decide from there. There are chances for an entertaining story this time around.

I'm not sure what to think. Silver Link seems to produce decent anime so this could be good. The setting is basic and it did seem light-hearted until I saw the suicide attempt. We could be in for a treat here in terms of story/comedy but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

I'm being careful as well because of that suicide attempt, let's hope its just a fake and it'll be back to a normal romantic comedy soon after...

Didn't know this was highly anticipated (I've only just started picking out what I'm gonna watch next season) but yeah, really looking forward to this one. Can't go wrong with rom-com :3

Plus I'm also intrigued by the guy who fell off the bridge

Romantic Comedy are the best and we know it. I wonder how they'll manage to play out the body swap plot device and keep the story believable...

I'm guessing they're just gonna wake up one day in each other's bodies, but who knows, they might pull out something serious, like that bridge guy (or girl, I couldn't tell)

Looks interesting, reminds me of the premise of a manga by Yoshikawa Miki. Although in that manga the body swapping is at will which looks to be different in this show.

It also sounds very familiar, I wonder if I saw another preview before.

Yeah, body swapping seems to be forced and unnatural here, so I suppose it'll get a special "wtf" moment in the protagonists!

The visuals looks very similar to K-On (character design mostly) in terms of style so maybe that's the reason?

"Shiromizakana" and "Dochibi" are "Yukiko Horiguchi"("K-On!" Chief animation director), they said.
This is not official announcement.
