Hello,
Today we'll talk about the 8th episode of the summer season 2012 anime series named Hyouka that, after so many very short episodic stories, starts a new mystery multi-episode story arc.
If I have to give someone a reason to watch Hyouka, it would be the accurate portrayal of a high school student's life. Everything in this world seems to be modeled around the "real world" more than I ever felt with any other anime series.
The mysteries are related to things that could happen to anyone, and there are no supernatural elements involved in any of them. Most of them are a bit "boring", but that's part of a normal student life isn't it? :P

In this story arc they'll face a classic "murder" mystery without any murder to actually take place. Yes, because it's inside an uncompleted movie and they need to detect the culprit in order to conclude the movie's story.
Let's be honest and say that the movie was completely lame in both execution and script. I know they wanted to give the "amateurish" feel to the movie, but I can't possibly believe they were acting in that way. Everyone could do better!
On the positive side, I do think that Fuyumi (the cool girl who invited Eru) is quite an interesting fellow. She looks mysterious and I'm still unsure about what is her real purpose in this whole matter...
As you can see from this short video sequence, Eru Chitanda knows and predicts everything about Houtarou. She knew that he was going to escape from her grasp and she decided to pursue him till the very end.
Sounds evil, but how could you justify that timing otherwise? Pure coincidence? I say no, because Eru is most likely a malevolent deity coming from the far deep universe...
Are you ready to start listening to Eru singing "(」・ω・)」うー!(/・ω・)/にゃー!(」・ω・)」うー!(/・ω・)/にゃー!Let's\(・ω・)/にゃー!"?! I know you want it as much as me... :D

Judging from the preview, next episode will likely be very similar to the episode where the main four characters were brainstorming in Chitanda's house in order to resolve Hyouka's mystery.
This time, three external students (two guys and one girl) are going to try and "write" the ending for the movie, but I suppose Houtarou will end up doing most of the work just as always.
I'm extremely curious to see if they'll be able to surprise me with the movie (maybe some twist in the culprit's identity?!) or we're in for another predictable story...

Concluding, Hyouka finally enter a new story arc that while simple looks promising compared to the previous episodic short-stories.
I'm looking forward to watch and blog about the future episodes as well.
See you soon,
