Hello,
Today we'll talk about the 8th episode of the spring season 2012 anime series Sankarea that strikes us with one of the best entertaining episodes of this whole anime season.
At the beginning I was quite wary of the implication of a filler episode right in the middle of the series, but as soon as the episode started all doubts disappeared.
Just like Wanko's dedicated episode, this episode managed to give us a nice insight about the personality and backstory of another important character. Yes, the protagonist's little sister named Mero.

It was a nice change of pace to watch three little childs strolling around talking and searching zombies in their surrounding. It seems that in this fictional Japan many childs have a fixation for zombies.
Hilarious was the whole "teacher zombie" side story with the alligator and all those horror details. For a split second I thought they really found a zombie...
Am I the only one thinking that this series could prove even more interesting by using Mero instead of Chihiro as protagonist? :D
This was the scene I most liked from this episode with Mero remembering her mother in Rea's actions. It's incredible how Rea looks so similar to her mother...
When Mero shouted "mom!", I was about to jump trying to hug the monitor. She's an extremely cute girl and its really unfortunate that she lost her mother in that young age.
By the way, am I the only one thinking that maybe Mero's mother was actually a zombie in those flashbacks? Maybe a zombie made by the protagonist's father?!

That would open a lot of additional possibilities to this whole story, because it means they know very well which are the stages of this zombification and what is going to be Furuya's challenge to keep Rea alive.
Next episode seems to be another filler episode talking about the backstory of Rea's "mother". I'm doubtful it'll be as interesting as this episode, but I'll keep an eye on it hoping for a miracle.
Yep, because it's pretty much clear that the series will conclude with this "kidnapping" arc leaving the story in a limbo state until a possible future second season.

Concluding, Sankarea is proving to be one of the most interesting series of this spring season, a series I suggest to anyone looking for a "special" romantic story.
See you soon,
