Today we'll talk about the first three episodes of the anime series airing in this packed winter season 2011/2012 named Black Rock Shooter that really confused me with a combination of normal life and out-worldish battles.
I'll be honest and say that after three episodes I'm still not sure about the link between the life of Matou Kuroi and the Black Rock Shooter strange world. Why are they linked in this way and why all the people Matou encounter appear in the world?
An even more important thing is to ask ourself what is exactly trying to do that teacher to our poor basketball ace? I'm starting to think she was the one who attached that letter to the wall...:P
The pacing of the first three episodes was just "right" considering the few number of episodes that this series is going to be composed of, but I have to say that most of the developments were really strange or ridicolous.
If you are trying to imagine my reaction to the first three episodes, it was a continue loud "ehhhhhh..." for most of the duration. You can imagine me to be sounding pretty much in this way.
The battles were colorful and well animated, but the whole evolution of events during these battles was a bit unbelievable! I mean, I understand the link between the battles in the other world and the life of Matou, but...:P
My favourite character is, as you probably already predicted, Matou Kuroi. Her energetic personality combined with the cute voice and cheerful smile are really something charming to me!
I can't seem to like any of the other supposedly main characters like the teacher, Yomi or Kagari. They all look too angsty for my tastes, especially the pair Yomi/Kagari...
On the other side I like a lot both Yuu's and Arata's personality. They are good girls and I would like the anime to give them more spotlight and details.
By the way, I'm still unable to get myself to like the opening song and I really don't know why people think that its a great song...it just sound mediocre to me...:|
Next episode will go and explore more the character of Arata that will finally break down (probably crying) on the pressure received from the other students. This is extremely likely if we think she will have to skip the tournament due to her injury...
At the same time we'll probably see a facedown between Black Rock Shooter and the mysterious old lady in the "other world". It will probably conclude itself with a "tie" as its really too early to defeat another main enemy...:P
Concluding, Black Rock Shooter is proving itself as a very amusing series that I'll definitely continue to watch in the future as well.
I'm not going to cover this regularly, but you may get additional post over it as soon as the story continue to develop.
