Hello everyone,
Today we'll talk about the 9th episode of the action anime series of this fall season 2011 named Guilty Crown that continues to irritate us by giving to our protagonist a really childish and irrational personality.
If you add on the top the fact that he preferred running around with Yahiro instead of accepting Hare's love, my hate for him grew up by 10 figures and is near to reach infinity. I only bear to continue watch Guilty Crown for the various characters I like...
Fortunately, on the story side we got some interesting info this time around and the whole outline of the conflict is a lot more clear now than it was before and we can even try to make some speculation on the future.

The episode start showing us Gai who leaves temporarily the rebels hideout to do business leaving Shu to enjoy his school life. Everything is cute and smooth with Kanon helping Hare get some of Shu's time to do some shopping.
The first thing that comes to the eye in this first minutes is that Shu's personality is distorted, with him looking and acting (just as Hare noticed) completely out-of-character.
My first prediction (confirmed by the episode) is that maybe after the last couple of episodes he is starting to think highly of his power and that the director will use this as a way to force his growth by killing off one character.
As you can see, in the very middle of Hare's confession of love, Yahiro breaks in the train and Shu is faced with the choice of keeping his promise to help Hare's shopping spree or following Yahiro.
Of course he completely forget about the cute girl's promise and jump immediately to follow (and try to help) the traitor leaving the poor Hare alone.
I mean, try to think of it in a real world situation. You are with an hot girl whose eyes can't see anything else than you and you are faced with the possibility of spending the whole day with her or following the guy who tried to kill you just some weeks before. What would you do?!

For a split second I thought Hare would be the "victim" that will make him grow up (especially when she started following him), but fortunately I was mistaken and the young brother of Yahiro end up getting killed leaving Shu with a dead-eyes face at the very end of the episode.
The interesting new info we got from this episode is that the void power is strictly related to the disease and probably are the result of some kind of experimentation by scientists. The proof is given by the weapon used by Daryl that follows a particular type of light.
We also know that the disease is a lot more complex than we thought being able to infect even entire Mecha with ease confirming us that is not limited to human beings at all.
And in the end we know that the scientist who stole the item from the GHQ base is not working for GHQ, but for a third unknown party looming in the darkness...

What now? Well, next episode will likely deal with Shu's shock and his "rebirth" probably helped by Hare and Inori. I'm not sure what personality he will take after recovering from the shock. Will he become a proper man or revert to a spineless worm?
While remaining sceptic about Guilty Crown, I'll be sure to blog and watch the future episodes as well...
See you soon,
