Hello everyone,
Let's go talk about the 9th and 10th episode of the action/infodump/fanservice anime series Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon who continues to entertain us with a great combination of fanservice and battles.
I was in honestly in awe to see finally some great battle between our students against the enemy armies and I can definitely say it was worth the wait of these 10 episodes of plot-building...
At the same time I liked the personality and cunning shown by the enemy leader Innocentius and I'm extremely eager to see how he will rage when faced with a impending defeat!
The 9th episode focus itself to the "battle" (not sure if its right to call it this way) between Futayo Honda and Kimi Aoi to recruit the first as the last member in our main army.
I loved the Kimi and Aoi's backstory as it was emotional and greatly animated by Sunrise. Kimi is growing a lot in my personal rankings, she would be the top choice if she wasn't so "abnormal" in terms of looks...:P
It was also clichè, but at the same time extremely touching to see all the various member follow their own "king", just as I liked the easygoing and cheerful Adele when explaining her position to the king.
The 10th episode is the starting episode focused on the war to regain the freedom of Horizon, that started after a bit of infodumping in the first part of the episode.
It was amusing to see how they maked fun of the whole war thing by giving Adele an invulnerable armor of the ancient ages just to use that as a joke factor in the whole episode.
By the way Tomo Asama is damn powerful with her imba-shoot capable of nearly downing an entire battleship with one single hit. I have to ask myself, why don't she simply destroy all three and be over with it? :P
This is definitely the pivotal moment of the episode with our two witches Margot and Malga kissing after the terrible battle in which they defeated an enemy mecha.
While they haven't really explained the backstory behind both characters, they made me curious enough to maybe buy the "light novels" (I heard they are VERY big books so it may take some months...) just to know more about the story.
Next episode will continue the war with the battle between Futayo Honda against the champion of the enemy faction. They will also feature, from what the previews seem to indicate, our dear Innocentius rage over something. (probably his impending defeat)
Concluding, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon has been a greatly criticized series of his season, but I think I've done the right choice not to drop it as its turning out to be an interesting story.
