Hello everyone,
Here we are to talk about the 8th episode of the fall 2011 anime series Guilty Crown that continues to tease us with a combination of shounen battles, fanservice of the heroines of the story and a little bit of plot advancement.
In these two weeks we got really overloaded by beach/swimsuit episodes, I wonder if there was some kind of "coordination" in the timing. It was so unnatural to be true...
Nevertheless I enjoyed watching the time they dedicated to each of the girls in this story. Hey, they even got some time for the main heroine of the story Tsugumi! :P

The episode change the setting straight away from a urban environment to a beach resort one, I suppose the change was more an excuse to provide us with swimsuit girls than an actual plot device.
Gai decide without giving any additional information (as usual) to recover an artifact from a GHQ base. This artifact is of vital importance for his plans and in order to gain access they need the void power owned by one of Shuu's classmates.
The whole episode instead of focusing on important question like "what is exactly this artifact?", "why do the rebels need it?", "who is the old guy with Shu's father ID card?" decided to focus on the young girls beautiful bodies and the rivalrly between Shu and his classmate over Inori's attentions...
Hey, but I'm not complaining too much here, because let's be honest, I enjoyed this scene of Hare quite a lot because we finally got a "proper" enemy for Inori's hegemony. :P
Hare Menjou, Shu's classmate is a quite nice fellow and being completely unrelated to the whole events she is the perfect safe haven for Shu.
If I were in his position I would have discarded away rebels and all the others problematic stuff to live freely with Hare as wife. What's the point of following someone who doesn't even tell you what is his real objective?! :P

On the story side, we now know two additional pieces of information. The first is that there is an unknown priest-like GHQ member who has Shu's father access rights and now a big blue crystal linked somehow to the events of Lost Christmas and the second one is that GHQ has some strange alien-like technology in its base.
I mean it has to be something alien, otherwise I don't have way to explain that massive protection system that looked pretty much ALIVE!
Next episode? Well, I have no clue on how they'll proceed at this point. Gai will do his best to try and recover the artifact, but how will be able to find the location of the old GHQ member?

Concluding, Guilty Crown is continuing to prove greatly entertaining, but for, probably, the wrong reasons.
I'll be sure to watch and blog the future episodes as well, even if I'm not sure about what expecting from this series...
See you soon,
