Here we are to talk about the 8th episode of the anime series Boku Wa Tomodachi Ga Sukunai that picked up a strange drama turn at the very end of this episode giving us some doubts on what they're trying to achieve with this "genre" swap for a couple of minutes...
The episode was a continuous amount of comedy and fanservice and it was pretty nice one at it (I loved the whole Yukimura in the male bath part), but all of a sudden we get this 360° turn at the very end going into drama territory thanks to Yozora and Rika agoraphobia!
This black point, adding to the degraded visual quality for the whole duration of the episode (some of the shots were really badly drawn) really diminished the enjoyment for me and is reducing the final score of a series that could have been a major hit otherwise...
The episode is divided into three main parts. The first focuses on the daily life of Kobato and Kodaka, with Kobato refusing to change clothes even in the "no air-conditioneer" situation she was in.
That is until she finally watch an episode in which the heroine she is "cosplaying" change costume, that prompt a rather weird/hot fanservice scene with a busty (at least from the way she was drawn) Kobato stripping and changing costume in front of a completely unfazed protagonist.
I can't say more than "Kudos to Kodaka", because he sure have some special power to remain calm while his beautiful middle-school sister was stripping right in front of him...
The second part focus on the preparations and talk the club members had before going to the pool together. Everything started as an idea from Sena, but slowly it got accepted by all the members as a way to learn how to "spend time with friends".
This, of course, include the various scenes in which Sena tries to "omochikaeri" Kobato and this infamous bus scene showing the "superiority" of Sena compared to anyone else in the female cast of Boku wa Tomodachi ga Nai.
She was almost going to suffocate Kobato with her "qualities" and I really like how she's all over Kobato for no apparent reason. It would be great to see the two becomes real sisters and live together!
The third and final part is the actual pool scenes with Yukimura changing in the male bath (where is the Hideyoshi reserved bath?!), Kobato sexy costume (that was damn hot!), Sena reminiscing the old pool time spent with Kodaka...
Everything was going fine until Rika and Yozora decide to leave because they weren't able to stand in such a big crowd. While I can understand their feelings it really looked weird to put such a drama inducing end right there after tons of laughs and fanservice moments...
Next episode seems to go back to comedy like nothing happened with Kodaka finally meeting with Sena's father, Yozora cosplaying a strange animal (didn't pay much care to what animal it was though...) and more sexy Kobato time!
Concluding, while unhappy with the animation, I'm still going to complete watch this series for the comedy and because I'm in love with pretty much all the characters shown till now. (Except Yozora, of course...)
