Hello everyone,
This evening we'll talk about the 8th episode of the action anime series Fate/Zero that is now slowly preparing to the grand-finale of this first season. (The second season is planned for the spring season 2012)
This episode conclude the attack to the castle without making any real casualties in any faction. The odds are that the next arc will focus on the extermination of Caster and the final battle against Lancer/Kayneth.
Both conditions are necessary for the story to continue because Saber is too much vulnerable at the moment with Lancer's wound on her wrist and is unable to face any other servant in a fair battle...

This episode shows us the real powers of Kiritsugu that are inside some special bullets capable of making the active magic circuits of a magus go crazy. The more powerful the magus is, the more effective the bullets are.
Fortunately for us, Kayneth is one of the most powerful magus of this story and is a perfect target for this kind of attacks. I wonder if Lancer will use his spear to disable the effect of the bullet on his body.
We also get some flashbacks of the past life of Kiritsugu and we see a woman that explain to him (and to us) the properties of these anti-magus bullets. I really wonder who she is...
Yes, on the other side we have Maya and Iris facing a powerful Kotomine Kirei. Maiya was downright useless not able to even make a scratch to him, she really isn't ready to fight a magus and I wonder why Kiritsugu takes her with him.
I was in awe when Iris used her magic against him, but it was a bit underwhelming that she got defeated so easily. Fortunately for us, she was under the overpowered protection of Avalon.
This artifact (the scabbard of Excalibur) is able to regenerate any wound in mere seconds as long as Saber is around. I can't remember how many times Shirou was saved by it...:P

On the Caster vs Lancer/Saber fight, we see some of the powers of Saber (Invisible air) and Lancer, but in the end Caster manages to escape unharmed and will probably prepare a dire surprise for our heroes in the near future.
Giving his affinity with killing childrens and using them as weapon against Saber, I would not be surprised if he comes out with some abomination as weapon.
Next episode (judging from the voices in the episode preview) will focus on Rider trying to intervene against Caster and Sola-Ui trying to snatch Lancer away from Kayneth...

Concluding, this was another solid episode that continues to give us more reasons to watch Fate/Zero to get our share of awesomeness!
I'm really eager to watch and blog the next episode and a bit sad that the show has been divided into two seasons...
See you soon,
