Hello everyone,
Let's continue with our coverage of the fall 2011 series with another interesting series named Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon (Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere) set in a distant future where most of the planet is unhabitable and where there are plenty of bishoujos around! (the latter seems to be a prominent feature of the series)
Before start to talk about the story, I have to say that this is a Sunrise production and after the crappy Sacred Seven they sure have to pull out something good to redeem themselves in this season.

The synopsis is quite simple :
Set in a distant land, Japan is divided into feudal territories, yet conquered by outside countries, the city Musashi that will ignite the flame of battle is being targeted and has no choice but to keep its people safe by entering this war, with the fate of the world resting on its hands, the students of Musashi may hold the key to victory.
Everything seems to go around a couple of main characters, Aoi and Horizon that together to reach a common goal and save something lost in the past they fight in this war together with other students. (most of them are unsurprisingly female)
I'm quite interested in the character of Horizon Ariadust (the main heroine), her way of talking looks so "robot-like" that she may really be the battleship we see Aoi standing on in many commercials/promotional videos!
The trailer (very long) is quite a treat from the visual side and show us most of the characters of the story with some hints on the storyline of the anime. I already got plenty of questions for them to answer just by looking at it!
Also, in the trailer they were talking about recovering the real Horizon, maybe her real personality is trapped somewhere? The premise is enough interesting to give me a reason to watch this, hopefully they'll not fall in the "infinite-filler" trap that many anime seems to fall into recently.
The animation as shown in the trailer is quite good and judging from the past of Sunrise we can expect a somewhat consistent graphical style through the whole series.

Directing this show there is Manabu Ono, famous for A Channel and Saki (yes, that Saki!) with the help of Tatsuhiko Urahata for the series composition. On the seiyuu side we have plenty of big names like the great Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch from Code Geass and other millions of series) starring our protagonist, Minori Chihara (Nagato from Haruhi), Daisuke Ono, Marina Inoue and many others.
I am honestly in awe with the famous cast they managed to fill in a single production, most of the characters are voiced by someone with great experience and I'm really looking forward to listen to them!
I'm also looking forward to the opening and ending songs! Why? Well, the OP is sung by Minori Chihara and the ED is sung by Ceui! I think there can't be any better reason...:D

This is definitely another series to look forward too and I'll be blogging about this as well for at least a couple of episodes!
See you soon,
