Hello everyone,
here we are for talk about the 9th episode of the anime series Mawaru Penguindrum that managed to confuse me completely with this flashback episode showing us how Himari became Penguin-Himari and what was the past of Himari before becoming sick.
They also managed to troll us quite a bit as this whole episode acted as a cliffhanger for the whole Shoma-is-under-the-truck incident and the Ringo's stalker "love story". (they did not appear at all during the whole episode apart from a short call at the end, maybe to increase the anticipation...)
Yes, this episode has shown us the reality behind Penguin Himari and while everything was completely confusing (the whole under-library stuff, all the books with the same name, the creepy librarian, etc...) I surely understood that Himari is not exactly the pure and ingenue Himari that we know of.
I'm not entirely sure about it, but it looks like Penguin Himari and Himari are actually the same person (just different personalities) and there is no hat controlling her at all... (if this is true it will be awkward especially if you remember all the Ringo insulting scenes :P)
What does this imply if proven true in the future? Well, that Himari has her own agenda to pursue just like all the characters in this storyline and this agenda seems to be revolving around a guy that was important to her far in the past and that she doesn't remember the face or name...
We also got the introduction of a new character, the librarian of that strange underground "magical" library that seems to know everything about everyone. I'm quite liking his voice, but I'm scared of his personality, his heart looks more dark than a thousands of Kyubeys! (I know that Kyubey is so innocent and pure that maybe its a wrong comparison, but bear with me...)
I wonder if this episode marks the start of the Himari's arc and means that we'll get more and more Himari screentime from now on as I'm honestly rather missing my dear Penguin Himari...
What will be next episode? From the preview it looks like we'll focus on Kanba and his fight against the pea-shotter girl (seems that he has some kind of past relationship with her) that will make us finally understand what is "her" project M. (assuming its not a "Marry Kanba" project as it would be so uncool...)
What about Shoma and Ringo you ask?! Well, Shoma is relaxing after winning the acrobatic jump championship and hopefully he'll be back in the storyline as soon as possible...:P
As usual, this series answer 1 question and create 5 more, but that's what we like about it, don't we? Looking forward to next episode as well...:)
