Steins Gate - I was blown up by Okabe's monologue this time...

Episode : 23 6. September 2011 22:48

Hello everyone,

Today we'll talk about the wonderful 23th episode of the great anime series named Steins Gate that with this episode (most precisely the final Okabe's crazy monologue) managed to get to epic level in my personal anime rankings.

The episode start slow with Okabe reluctantly joining hands with Suzuha and going back in time in a totally renovated time machine (that can go also toward the future this time around) to avoid the third world war and Kurisu's death. (the latter appear to be the main reason Okabe is going back)

We re-live scenes from the first episode with the original Okabe going with Mayuri around in the building. We also get a glimpse of scene between the new Okabe and Kurisu that is the scene Kurisu was referring to in the first episode that I mentioned a lot in the previous blog posts.

Steins Gate

After Okabe hide himself in the place where Kurisu get killed, he finally get to know that the father of Kurisu (that fake idiot scientist of the conference in the first episode) is the actual guy that killed her, but in the process of trying to save her, Okabe end up becoming the killer.

All the happenings seems to be identical to Mayuri's incident and end up depressing Okabe that return to the present without any willpower to continue in a futile endeavour...

It is now that Suzuha shows her real face and tell him that this was everything "just as planned" and make Okabe watch a video on his phone from his future self. (seems like there was some need of him going through Kurisu's death to be able to watch the video)

Steins Gate

In the video the future Okabe explain to the current Okabe how to save Kurisu by fooling his old self and overcoming the limitations of time-travel. I loved how the two Okabe's were perfectly in touch with each other (especially on the Steins Gate name part).

Cheered up by this new information Okabe return to his original form from the first couple of episodes, the mad scientist that we all knew and loved and swear that he'll win and save Kurisu from death. (the third world war is just a minor stuff for him)

This was one of the greatest monologue I heard recently in anime. I really liked how Mamoru Miyano portrayed Okabe's crazy deliring voice and I'll be sure to look at any of his future works!

Steins Gate

What will happen now? The last episode is upon us! Okabe using his knowledge will be able to save Kurisu and stop the third world war.

Judging from the words of the future Okabe he will have to fool himself into thinking Kurisu is dead so this will require probably some help from the actual Kurisu...

See you soon,

feal87

P.S. I'm rather tempted to pick up Kurisu's and Mayuri's nendoroids...they're so cute!

Guess you seen by what I was referring to last epsiode about killer(s).

Epic indeed. This actually made the game's monologue look rather minor to me. Sort of, lol. Well, we final reach the ending next week. It shall be satisfying to say the least.

Btw: Even though I played the game what in the heck does Steins;Gate mean anyway? In german Stein = rock or stone, so says a dictionary, but not really sure. Chaos;Head was more pronounced and direct to what that meant, lol.

Yeah, poor Okabe. Fortunately he is back for some destiny-kicking! Destiny!!!

The combination of the song (I want the single? Where is it? Release it already!!! >_<) and his mad talking were totally EPIC. *__*

The anime said clearly what it means "tokuni imi wa nai" so I think it doesn't have any sense.

I was really impressed with the voice acting too, I was completely absorbed into the situation. So far Steins;Gate has greatly exceeded my expectations. I hope the next episode will be epic.

Yeah, watching Okabe return to the original carefree mad scientist was quite good. I loved the shocked face Suzuha had while watching Okabe talk like a crazy madman!

Yeah, he's back! Let's change the past and save Kurisu as well. *__*

As Mayuri said, I prefer this Okabe to the depressed one.

...oh making an Epic Ending?... And About the Killer... I had a hunch seeing him there too and Oh! it really happened!... what an pitiful parent yet our beloved Kurisu still saved him...

...And he's not just A "Mad Scientis", Hououin Kyouma, for show... he really lived up to his title... planning it all out in the Future...

But seeing what really Happened on July 28 is abit much for my heart : )... but with that ending of this episode I can't wait... to go to the "Steins Gate" world where there lies my happiness with My beloved Mayuri and Kurisu alive...

...together with everyone...

( nice wake up Slap Mayuri... : )

That father really is pure hate, I want Okabe to punch him well next episode after saving Kurisu...

Yeah, 15 years of planning to save Kurisu, that's the power of love...

We need to save everyone! My only question is "when he will save Kurisu from dying, won't he remain the only one to know about ALL the story till now?!"

(Ahahah, I loved that as well.)

so Kurisu didn't become the next Hitler, dammit

Okarin deserved that bitch slap
I'm afraid of the levels of forced drama in the next episode
when Okarin stabbed Kurisu my forced drama meter went over 9000

Unfortunately no, I would have liked a Kurisu dictator...

True, Mayuri saves the day!

Mhn...nah, I think next episode will conclude positively without much drama (would be pointless in the last episode...)

I wonder how will Okabe Pull the stunt of Fooling the world...

...by making his past self see a dead (who's body? will it be ) and hides  Kurisu so that Past self won't know... and thus will affect the Time lines to move as they planned?...

am i going the right path?...

That's what I'm really interested in this ending.
I thought about the making them see a body of someone else, but how to fool them into thinking its Kurisu?! Its not so easy I suppose...

Was going to do a post like this but you took the words right out of my mouth. Was blown away by the monologue this time. I don't think anyone else but Mamoru Miyano can pull it off...

True, right from the start he was creating an incredible special aura around the character of Okabe with his voice.
I can't explain it in a simple way, but he was sure able to portray a delusional character perfectly...

This episode was just pure awesome. I agree, Okabe's monologue was really something.

I wouldn't want to jinx it, but it looks like they're gonna end this with a bang. Oh how I wish the beta world line's time machine was here >.<

I may not have been watching a lot of Anime lately but I gotta agree, Okabe's monologue at the end was one of the greatest I've ever seen. I even dare spout the blasphemy that it tops the GARness of the manly speeches done in Gurren Lagann. After seeing the amount of despair Okabe went through in the past and how it culminates to the moment at the end of this episode, it just made it a lot more epic in comparison. Looking forward to his plans in overcoming the cruel destinies that have been binding him and his loved ones.

Phew... Finally found the time to marathon and catch up before the finale. Been too clogged with work, Anisama and stuff for the past weeks. OTL

Yeah, Okabe sure is returned to be the GAR man that was right at the start, I wonder what he will do to save her from "DESTINY!!!!!"
(ouch, Ringo is infecting me...).

Only a couple days more....ç___ç
