Hello everyone,
Today we'll talk about the 8th and 9th episode of the second season of Baka To Test To Shoukanjuu. This anime after a rather "trite" start (focusing on the violence-on-akihisa concept) is slowly returning back to the old combination of battles and funny jokes that made the first season really famous.
In the 8th episode we have a flashback episode focusing entirely on Minami and explaining finally the reasons that made her fall in love with Akihisa. I was really happy to know her full backstory and it turned out to be more sweet than I first thought showing a different, weaker side of Minami when she first arrived in Japan...
The reasons of her being in love? Well, Akihisa is as usual is the kind guy that go to great lengths for anyone! He studied hard just to get a way to make friends with Minami and get her out of isolation, but failing hard by thinking she was French and not German. The internal struggle of Minami being isolated in the new school was quite emotional especially if you think she continued to make happy faces at home to avoid making Hazuki worry.
After this episode she clearly made her position unattackable at the top of my personal character ranking in this series. Her character is given a lot more detail and focus compared to Mizuki that is somehow leaved up alone in this whole second adaptation.
I wonder why, especially considering that in the first season she is pretty much the focus of all episodes...
In the ninth episode we go back to the current timeline with Akihisa trying to remember the reasons that made Minami change her behavior toward him. (after, of course, being tortured to death from the FFF inquisition!)
After understanding the reasons he explain to Minami the truth (warranting him a nice couple of hits) and close the whole situation for now. Mizuki on the other side get to know of Minami's true feelings for Akihisa and is ready to fight with her to get back the guy she loves.
At the dawn of the ninth episode the situation is Minami 1 - Mizuki 0 with Minami leading the way after being able to steal Akihisa's first kiss. (and my heart as well with that scene)
What now? Well, war seems to be the keyword for the following episodes judging from the situation. The B class want to humiliate the already battle-worn F class and is almost ready to declare war (the leader of the B class is the main mastermind behind all this).
Yuuji thinks that being attacked from the D class will give them enough time to recover points before facing the B class so ask Minami and Yoshii to act like a couple to irritate Miharu and cause a war.
What will happen? Not sure, but I'm looking forward the evolution of this triangle relationship, maybe with some more shocking scenes like the kiss of the seventh episode...(I would be happy with even just a Shouko X Yuuji kiss honestly...)
I'm eagerly waiting for next episode and the upcoming final battle of this series. I have a positive outlook on this series and hope they'll decide to go for a third season as well as I doubt we'll have a definitive ending to the triangle relationship with this season...
