Hello everyone,
Here we are to talk about the 8th and 9th episode of the slice of life yuri comedy series of this summer season 2011 named Yuruyuri that is having a great number of followers in the anime blogosphere.
The number of blogs talking about this series is very high, a lot more compared to similiar series in the past like A-Channel and such, maybe thanks to the yuri undertones always present in pretty much every episode... (but never big enough to be annoying)
The 8th episode start off very nicely cutting off both Chinatsu and Akari from the storyline (they are the less interesting characters from my point of view) and focusing on the rest of the girls with the theme of the episode being "lies".
I, honestly, was completely fooled by Chitose talk about "I'm going to tell lies" and I really thought together with Ayano that she was just spouting whatever was in her mind on the moment. Especially when she started saying "I won a lottery" or "I have a twin" or "Kyouko sniffed your socks" to Ayano, I mean they were very improbable things. When I heard that they were true, my reaction was pretty much the same as Ayano.
After this episode I'm also getting rather fond of Chitose voice and accent that together with her natural smile makes me happy without reason! I really loved her "うち双子やねん!".
I also liked a lot the "Chitose is ignoring us" scene with Kyouko trying everything to get the attention of a girl that turns out to be the twin sister of Chitose. Kyouko as always, make the show a lot interesting with her strange ideas to get the attention of Chizuru and strength of will to keep trying for a very long time.
The ninth episode start with some idle chat between the girls and ended up being one of the less funny episode of Yuruyuri till now. There were some interesting jokes here and there, but nothing exceptional or remarkable. In this episode I liked especially the talk of Akari at the end "Sorry for not being able to come to the club today" scarying up the others. I wonder who was the other "Akari"...
In the second half of the episode we finally get some new character introduction in the form of a scientist teacher and in the actual student council president Rise Matsumoto. The teacher is a rather interesting fellow and her energetic behaviour looks to me the best to attract comedy from all sides, especially if combined with her attitude to make things explode!
Rise Matsumoto on the other hand is a silent (never talked and probably its the same in the manga as well), but extremely beautiful girl somehow infatuated with the teacher we talked about earlier. She is at first confused for a spirit by our main cast, but in the end they get to know together when Ayano comes over to explain.
I'm not sure about how much impact will have her character on the storyline, but I sure hope to see her often! She's the only girl beautiful enough to compete with my lovely Kyouko.
That's all for this session of Yuruyuri! Next episode seems like will talk about the "classic" school travel of Kyouko/Yui/Ayano/etc... classes and will probably feature little to nothing of the Akari/Chinatsu pair.
But don't worry, just by watching the Kyouko feeding Ayano scene in the preview I'm sure all of us will like this episode as well...
