Here we are to talk about the ending of the longest arc of Kami-sama no Memo Chou, the detective anime of this summer season 2011, revolving around the past of one of the main characters of the story (Yondaime) and developing the relationship between our protagonist (Narumi) and both Alice and Yondaime probably as a prelude to prepare us for the upcoming arcs.
The first seventh episode focus on clearing up the fog behind the "death" of the girl that both Yondaime and Renji protected and loved and that is the main reason behind their reciprocal hate that escalated in a gang war...
The shock behind this is that her "death" was not caused in any way by Yondaime, but well she was quite a bad girl herself. Pretty much like the child-lover teacher from Kami-sama Dolls, this girl managed to get pregnant from a married man (a gang leader or something similiar from what I understood) and get "killed" by his wife in her own house.
Why all these quotes you ask? Well, because we get the mind-fucking revelation right in the 8th episode that she really hasn't died, but received enough damage to lose the child and become unable to have anymore in the future. What you do when you lose the ability to have childrens and receive a massive quantity of money from the gang leader as "compensation"?
But of course, you crossdress a male and open a new shop working while hiding from one of your old friend that still think you're dead!!! What a nice mind-pattern they have these characters nowadays! They are almost at my mice brain level if they work hard!
Jokes aside, after knowing the truth Renji stop being a jerk and talk with Yondaime clearing up their misunderstanding. Of course, he talked by punching him hard because real mans only talk with fists! Especially when the other side is highly damaged by a previous battle and just escaped from the hospital.
By the way the doctors said something along the lines "there are few chances for him to awake" or "There may be grave problems for him"...were they joking maybe?!
From the unclear points I don't know what happened to the 20-30 guys Renji had as disciples. What are they doing now? They redeemed together with Renji or did they forget about their hate for the clan right after their leader abandoned them? I do understand that they're minor character, but I would like to see some closure on that side as well...
The highlight of the whole arc for me? Well, I think it can be identified with Renji shutting up Alice when she was trying to spout the line about the NEET detective stuff! It was priceless, probably the best 5 seconds of this entire series till now. I really still can't bear to hear that line repeated each and each arc, like there is some kind of merit in being a NEET.
Next Arc? It seems that will be another unrelated story to the Angel Fix main story (that seems so far right now) that we're all waiting for. It seems they'll play baseball this time around, I wonder if at least we'll have some nice cute moment with Alice trying to swing a bat like the Denpa Onna baseball game...
I thought about keeping Kami-sama no Memo Chou on hold till the end of the air to limit the damage to my brain, but then I would lose chances to rant here so I'll keep looking forward the future episodes as well. (well, Alice blushing is also a nice way to improve my loyalty to this series...)
Who knows, we may even get the Angel Fix arc adapted sooner or later...
