Hello everyone,
Here we are with yet another rambling about the fanservice anime named Mayo Chiki that reached half run with the sixth episode aired days ago and that will be the object of the talk of today. In this sixth episode we get some conclusion in the Usami's storyline with the definitive entrance of her into the Jirou's harem together with "more lovely than ever" Subaru. (Sorry for the late post, but I was slightly affected by EroJun's "lazy poster syndrome")
The plot was pretty brainless like every episode and started with Subaru going "jealous" over the Jirou/Masamune couple and continued with comedy events revolving the three characters. Usami is certainly increasing her ratings with all the tsun/dere alternation shown in this episode, but she's really very far away from the level of cute that Subaru is able to create with a simple smile or gesture.
The story escalate when Subaru, Jirou and the new girl infiltrate in the meeting of the two factions to overlook and stop the blood shedding, but when everything looked really dangerous for our heroes the director managed to destroy every kind of conspiration theory I was preparing in my mind by showing Kanade managing this whole affair from behind (like always I would add).
Ah yes, Nakuru Narumi is finally introduced properly in this episode and it looks like she is in the end just another member of the Subaru's fan club. Nothing really worth noting honestly...
What after that? Well it turned out to be a quiz fight between the two groups with Jirou "winning" by revealing that he was the one to give the first kiss to Subaru! It was funny, but clearly a filler just to make some new comedy around our characters.
Talking about characters, Kanade is quite a strange character of this series, I still don't know what really are her intentions. Is she doing it just for "the lulz sake" or do she really have some feelings for Jirou. It is never really explained more than with subtle hints... (and that kiss that unfortunately doesn't have much follow in the current episodes)
By the way, I'm currently reading the manga of Mayo Chiki and it looks really neat with the different graphical style somewhat resembling the original LN's one, but still very far away in terms of quality unfortunately. It is still a nice pick if you like the storyline and you want to read more about your characters. (the storyline is pretty much the same with slight changes in locations and details)
That's all for this post, judging from the previews the next episode will go back into filler mode with plenty of fanservice.
I wonder why I'm not surprised...

P.S. I wonder if we'll have a Narumi-centered arc like the Usami one...
