Before starting on this new post, I have a small notice. I finally ordered my first action figure (1/8 actsta Subaru Nakajima from Nanoha Strikers) and hopefully it should be here next week, long before my birthday that, by the way, is the 27 August. I'm quite interested and excited as this is one of the few action figure I saw online having the joints well hidden. I'll probably do a Subaru's dedicated post for that day covering the figure as well.
Now let's go ahead and talk about the last Steins Gate episode, the 19th, that I watched some hours ago and that is starting to shed some light over the final D-Mail mystery that Okarin need to resolve before returning to the original timeline in which the lab members were together.
All the episode was dedicated to Moeka and her incredible servile attitude toward this mysterious FB and the resulting relationship that is born between her and Okabe. Let's start with saying that she killed herself after being abandoned by FB and is only "saved" by Okarin's time leap that is a rather forced act as Mayuri died in that timeline as well like always... (at least they stopped showing gruesome scene to us...)
What happens after this is something rather of bad taste, but still understandable due to Okabe's circumstances. Okabe storms in the Moeka's room, steal her phone by giving her a big powerful punch (ouch, my bishoujo love heart was damaged by that scene) and tries to change the timeline, but unfortunately this doesn't work as the mail she sent was different from what she actually said to Okarin.
Shortly after Okabe go in the house again and force Moeka to tell him what she sent to herself in the D-Mail by abusing her mentally and making good use of the FB behaviour to convince her. (he also end up kissing her to avoid being discovered by a neighbor)
Honestly speaking, after all these episodes of repeated Mayuri's death and explanations I can't hate, nor blame Moeka for Mayuri's death for a simple reason... (other than being the most hot character of the series. Those few seconds while Okabe was forcing her down were...
)
She is, in the end, just another tool from the "fate" to kill Mayuri, just like the child of Mr Braun. That is, unless the little child of Mr Braun is actually an agent in disguise working with FB and Moeka...(oh please, I hope its not this the twist they talk about...)
What now? Okabe is on its way to find this mysterious FB as he need to send the d-mail from his phone to convince Moeka and judging from the outlook of the series it will be one of the characters of the main cast. It is too late at episode 20 to present a new character, so I'm more and more leaning to think that Mr Braun is actually FB as its the only character not part of the lab shown to us with great detail...
What about his motives? No clue honestly as he looks a nice person, too nice to be the top of a mercenary group...but it may fit as strangely he was always near Suzuha as well. (If he is actually a CERN member I would understand why he would be Suzuha's shadow in the past as well)
My opinion regarding Steins Gate remain positive as the series is continuing to impress us with some great pacing that is being kept through the whole long series. The fact that the story till here was nothing really groundbreaking is just a little detail that will be hopefully fixed by the last final twists!
