Here we are for another rambling over the mystery (?!) series of this season named Dantalian no Shoka featuring our lovely Dalian getting more and more tsundere with every episode. (I have to admit she was a lot more cute with the light novel art design though)
This episode left me a little disillusioned, it felt like a filler from the start till the end. The episode was divided into two different stories (around 12 minutes each) and started with the whole children gone genius stuff that end with no resolution whatsoever. I mean the book just get burned down by Huey with the childrens left as geniuses to the dismay of the teacher.
I would have hoped to see another wit fight between our dear Huey against those genius childrens making them become normal again with the help of some special book by Dalian, but it seems that it wasn't in the ideas of the writer. Instead we get some (reasonable to be honest) explanation that real genius will calculate the risk factor and never do something that may end up failing reducing them to do nothing dangerous for the rest of their life.
In the second half we get some bandit trying to steal a book that turns out to be a gigantic man-eater plant (and both bandits turns out to be the plant's food), nothing really interesting to talk here if not for the great reflexes of Huey in defending from the first bandit at the start.
The only really interesting note of this episode is the presentation of a new regular character in the childhood friend of Huey named Camilla. The subtle catfights with Dalian over Huey attentions are nice to watch and exactly as nice is Camilla's way of conquering Dalian's heart by feeding her sweets. I can't get enough of that blushing expression in Dalian's face.
I don't think she will have a great role in the whole storyline, but having some addition to the main cast is great. (She'll probably assume a similiar role to the one assumed by Avril in Gosick)
At this point I can't really make any final judgement on this series, but till now the entertainment level was quite high and there is hope that passed the filler episodes we'll get more plot, maybe around the Dalian's origin and why Huey was choosen as her keymaster.
