Hello everyone,
Here we are to write again about our main fanservice series of this summer season 2011 named Mayo Chiki. I have to say that I've been positively impressed by the last episode that managed to merge both fanservice and a little bit of drama together making us also know about the past behind the two main girls of this series.
Everything start with the classic fanservice fanfare with Kureha going around naked in the house encountering Subaru in the process. You know, things that just happen to everyone, don't they?!

Right after Kanade decides to invite all of them to a pool with some unknown motive that become very clear when she talks to our protagonist about their past and how when they were childs, they got kidnapped without Subaru (well, she was a little girl) being able to do anything.
I was expecting something on the line of simulating another kidnapping and yes, we do get it, with our protagonist trying to act cool fighting against the kidnapper (the father of Subaru) failing hard and being saved by Subaru's prompt arrival.

This episode just shown a different face of this series from the normal fanservice focused one with plenty of touching moments, nice fights and a generally great storytelling. I was really interested in the flashback they've shown of our protagonist father and I hope he (the protagonist) will have more moments to shine in the future and maybe save Subaru from something. (difficult to be honest given how weak he is)
Subaru also shows another personality, the weak and frail girl with a fear complex against blades grown after the first kidnapping incident. By the way, her crying because of the fear that our protagonist would die was very cute to watch. She sure knows how to appeal to us...

I was not expecting from this series to have any kind of real plot or character development, but this change of pace compared to normal pure fanservice series is surely refreshing to watch and surely more interesting. Hopefully we'll get more episodes of this kind as the series progresses! (I want to know who is the mother of our protagonist!)
The graphical designs were superb this episode as well (had to repeat multiple times all the scenes where Kanade was involved due to obvious reasons), even if the animation quality wasn't the best you can get out there. (Probably they'll improve it by the DVD release?!)

Well, that's all for now. Next episode we'll get more comedy and fanservice in an episode that seems will revolve around Suzutsuki Kanade becoming maid for one day! (There is a nice shot of her in maid uniform in the preview!)
Hope they'll be able to keep up the quality at these levels for the rest of the episodes!
See you soon,
