Hello everyone,
Here we are for yet another rambling of a new anime series of this packed summer 2011 season. This series has been suggested by alex in a comment (I was going to wait the end to really watch it) and it has turned out to be a rather interesting action series filled with high quality fanservice with a little bit of guro.
I'm talking about Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi, an anime based on an original successfull light novel series from the author Takaya Kagami. He is the same that wrote "The Legend of the Legendary Heroes" that was another great story so I'm rather positively expecting some development in this story.

Let's start with a synopsis :
First year high school student Kurogane Taito is a disillusioned youth. He has thrown away the belief that hard work and effort will be compensated. Now, he simply exists as the days pass him by. However, there is something that he has forgotten. A stolen memory of a girl, a pact, and a curse. Nine years ago, the young Taito had met Saito Himea, the eldest vampire, and made a pact with her. Now, Taito's memories are about to be restored, and he will remember the girl which has been kidnapped and kept imprisoned for the past 9 years, waiting for him to free her.
Oh, the story is the most common boy-meets-girl that you can find in many titles (including the superpowers), but with an interesting twist.
The boy dies enough times in the first two episodes that the whole process of dying becomes laughable to watch. The first scene with the head flying and him talking normally with the demon was hilarious. (that's also the reason I choose this as the title of this post. I mean, if he can survive, maybe also Mami can!)

There is plenty of fanservice and low angles camera work in this series, but nothing exceptionally of bad taste even thought sometimes the censoring can become annoying with the beam of light coming out of nowhere covering half screen. I liked a lot Haruka's school smiwsuit by the way, but also Mirai wasn't that bad...
The first two episodes show us the main five characters and explain a little of background around the main couple, especially about the Saitohimea's past. The enemy of this first little arc (Hinata) was a little too wasted as potential, I mean they used Jun Fukuyama for the first disposable boss?! Hopefully he'll be back kicking in the future with some twist. (A demon report his words to Gekkou in the third episode so it is likely still alive somewhere.)
The third episode, instead, is pure filler put there likely as a way to explain some new information about the school without jumping straight to the next battle with a new boss. I'm not complaining as there is plenty of fanservice of all three the girls and enough info to make it worthwhile. (I mean the camera they used when Mirai was talking was something almost criminal!)

On the character side my favourite character till now is Haruka (she actually looks like Rena from Higurashi! She's the same!!!) even though the other two (the vampire and the demon) aren't that bad especially the dere-dere Saitohimea. I'm interested in watching if our main character will end up romantically involved with any of them...
This series is also not suggested to anyone who can't bear its own share of violence as there are plenty of flashbacks of torture (by the military or by the church) that to be honest startled even me. How can they do those things to a cute vampire like Saitohimea?!

This series under the veil of some rather forced fanservice give us an interesting story and some amiable characters to care for. I'll continue to follow this series and likely blog about it again in the future!
See you soon,
