Hello everyone,
Here we are to talk about the second episode of the anime series Dantalian no Shoka (Biblotheca Mystica de Dantalian) that is proving itself a very nice particular production in both storyline and visual effects (I'm starting to get used to these real life backgrounds).
I started this episode without much expectation about storyline waiting just for my lovely Dalian to appear, but I was genuinely impressed by the atmosphere (the whole westerner look to the buildings, trees and clothes was very well played) and story they managed to tell within these small 22 minutes.
The story of this episode follows another series of murders happening in an isolated manor for many years that end up revolving around the use of a magical book. (even if the deaths are actually consequential to the "curse" of the family of the lady)
This series, anyway, continue to enforce the concept that knowledge by itself does not kill, the human who use that knowledge is the one who really kills like in this case with the lady of this manor. I liked the Dalian ending considerations, I agree with her that sometimes is a very strict (or very lax in other cases) family background that end up creating deranged behaviour in humans.
Huey proves itself to be a resourceful and interesting main character with his deduction about the location of the magical "book" powering up the golem. At the same level of our protagonist we have the smart, tsundere and jealous Dalian (I was about to faint at the face she made at the end while showing her new hairstyle) that continues to take the role of a more mature Victorique.
On another side, in the OP shown in this episode I noticed some other girls (two to be precise) with a keyhole in some place of the body (one was with a eyepatch if I remember correct) and I'm starting to assume that there will be some more powerful enemy up ahead in the future for our protagonists to fight against maybe with the help of these new girls. (or these girls may well be the enemy...)
This show is proving itself to be a very nice pick for this summer season with the combination of unique art, a cute loli, a decent protagonist and some interesting story.
I'm looking forward to the next episode.
