Hello everyone,
Here we are for yet another introduction/initial impressions to a summer season anime, the fifth of the ones we actually blogged the first episode of. This one is a very famous second season of a series named "Baka To Test To Shoukanjuu" that probably everyone knows about. (and that we quickly blogged again in the past in this website)
By the way this series got a second season due to the sheer success of the first season that really sold a lot of DVD/Blu Ray copies! (Let's keep hope for both Hidan no Aria and Denpa Onna)

The series configure itself as a comedy revolving some students in a fictional academy featuring a new caste educational system that divides students into class reflecting (in every way till the forniture they use) their knowledge level in a A to F ranking. Adding on the top of this system there is the familiar system with which students can fight between each other using their test scores as power for their familiars.
Quite an original concept that is very well exploited by this series with nicely animated chibi battle scenes and plenty of insight episodes over the system. (like the berserk episode with all the familiars going crazy)

Obviously that is only half of the adaptation, the other half (the one that really made me fall in love with this series) is the comedy/fanservice quantity and quality. First of all, the fanservice is not excessive and neither disgusting, but here and there giving that treat I expect from a series without falling into being ridiculous. (If I have to go by look alone, my favourite would be for sure the beauty Shouko)
Right after there is the comedy, yes because the comedy you'll see in this series while mostly slapstick is really well done. Like Seitokai Yakuindomo I can say that the jokes "just works" and are funny even if sometimes repeated through the series. I still laugh if I remember the cinema scene between Shouko and Yuuji!

From the first episode of the new season I clearly see all the great points of the first series being kept very stable. The comedy is refreshing and interesting while remaining on the same genre of the previous season. (Yuuji going monochrome while talking to Akihisa is now a classic)
The first episode puts us in a beach scenario full of fanservice of all the characters (loved the Minami's swimsuit by the way) to show all the main characters again and prepare us for the second adventure that will likely involve some new class battle or probably they'll find something original this time around to keep the viewer from being bored. (Don't know, school level battles?)

I have to give a positive note on the studio animating this series that managed to keep the quality at the top for the whole season and is still great even now with the new episodes. I love their particular style of animating the OP/EDs a lot reminiscent of the SHAFT world.
Great job also for the Seiyuu which are doing a great job portraying our characters. (I watched the pre-episode 00 with all the seiyuu and I really laughed out loud at the shout "Muttsurini!")

This is a must watch for everyone that likes comedy series! It is one of the best of the last years for sure in this genre!
As for me I'll be following this very closely and will likely blog on it everytime I feels the episode is worth talking about. (That judging from the fact that I love pretty much all the characters it will be always.
)
See you soon,
