Hello everyone,
Here we are for yet another first impression over this newly started Summer season 2011 that is providing us many interesting series to keep an eye on while we wait for the much anticipated Autumn 2011 season.
Yesterday I finally watched the first episode of the series Kami-sama Dolls, a series based over an original manga by Hajime Yamamura that has a rather interesting premise driving the plot forward.

Let's start with a synopsis :
Kuga Kyouhei, after moving away to Tokyo from his old town to get away from the events that happened, is on a goukon with his friends, including his old neighbor, Shiba. After drinking for a whole night, he and Shiba discover a dead, bloody, body in the elevator. He is told by his younger sister, Utao with her Kamisama Doll, that Aki, an old friend, and his Doll, are the culprits responsible.
Let's be honest, the story doesn't go really far from the classic shounen setting, but I was sincerely shocked off by the gore present in the series and by the childs battle scene straight at the beginning of the first episode of this series. Where were the adults? Why it looked a lot like a battle not accidental, but intentional? Something like something the village planned all along the way?

The first episode does a good job presenting all the characters and we get a glimpse of the four main characters of the story and their influence in the world. I'm not sure about what is the position of our protagonist in this whole mess, he is supposedly the old Seki shown in the starting battle, but now that he is powerless what is his position in this whole affair? I seriously hope he's not going to be the Sakai Yuuji of this world. It would be too lame to watch.
The sister of the protagonist (Utao) on another end is quite funny to watch and alone is enough to keep me watching this series. Good presentation for both the protagonist's crush (Hibino) and main enemy and I think both will play a major role in the story development in the future. (Enemy become friend development?!)

Anyway this series is something I'll be watching with "care" as I'm still not entirely sold to neither characters nor settings especially considering this series sports rather green seiyuu compared to the other series (except for Misato Fukuen in Utao Kuga's role that you can remember for her position as Konjiki no Yami in To Love Ru). Nevertheless, this will be likely a series I'll be watching till the end. (Be it only for Utao cute antics)
See you soon,
