Steins Gate - Okabe! Trust your companions! Save Mayuri! Mayushii!

Hello everyone,

Here we are after 2 weeks of wait for another post about the game based anime series Steins Gate. Why after two weeks you say? Well the answer is pretty clear...I didn't want to watch my Mayuri die right at the end of the episode leaving me waiting for a week in pain, praying for her well-being.

Yes, I knew that they'll use the time leap to save her (and in the end she'll be saved for sure, otherwise I'm going to rage under the office of Nitro+ personally), but really it was too much for me to bear.

Steins Gate

After the 12th episode featuring a mostly easy going love-comedy between Okabe and Kurisu, the story start for real with Moeka turning as a CERN agent trying to capture the three useful member of the lab that is Makise Kurisu, Okabe Rintarou and Itaru Hashida.

Her decision to kill off Mayuri is the real reason the whole time loop starts as Suzuha enter the scene saving the group and giving them the time to activate the machine and send Okabe's memories traveling to the past to save Mayuri from dying.

Steins Gate

So, in this episode (13th episode) we get a glimpse of Mayuri and Okabe past together and I'll be honest in saying that Okabe gained a lot of respect from me after the scene with Mayuri at the grave of the grandmother. He care for her for real and he is implied clearly that even now is only acting the mad scientist personality!

The problem I see with the actual approach of Okabe to save Mayuri is that he is relying on himself alone. He should ask help and collaboration from Kurisu and most importantly Suzuha, as she is the only one powerful enough to really make a difference.

I can see if someone want to think that Mayuri's death is inevitable (as shown from the child making her fall into the railway), but I can't really believe Nitro+ will end up with a half-assed "Mayushii is death, but the others are happy and the future is safe so all is good!" ending. Especially for a 15+ rated game!

Steins Gate

What can happen now? I expect at least the next episode to be still a build up for the Mayuri story arc in which the group will try everything to avert her fate and then in the subsequents episode we'll see the resolution of this arc and likely (after a couple of filler episodes again) the start of the final one.

What will the final arc talk about? No clue to be honest as there are tons of pending sub-plot and the story by itself is still too foggy to be able to see anything definite as possible story progression!

Steins Gate

Let's hope together for a bright future for my lovely Mayuri!

Regards,

Alessio

P.S. I need a time machine to travel to the 5 of July! Need to watch the rest of this anime. Frown

Yeah, that episode really hit a cord me even though I experienced it VN wise. Poor, Mayuri did not deserve it (god the second one was just plain awful). Going to be exciting to see how they fit the next series of events into place, since the anime now is nearly caught up to me story wise. However, think I already figured out the story thanks to re-watching two particular episodes...plus if it is what I am thinking am in for more disappointment >_>

Wish I could time travel ahead to marathon this to the end, lol.

Oh, your words make me scared about what is going to happen in the future episodes! I don't want her to die. ç__ç
Uff, let's keep hope!

It is not as bad as I make it sound. I was referring to another event in the story that is going to be way to predictable. Other than that, it has nothing to do with Mayuri in particular.

Pheew, well. Let's wait and see what they will pull up, it may even be that they won't follow strictly the VN plot...

Love the pictures, though I have to say maybe Mayuri is doomed to die. As a very smart contact of mine said, "Fatalism is stronger than the multiverse theory". Which basically means that she's predestined to the same fate no matter what.

To be honest doesn't make much sense as the time travel has already given us some example of too profound changes to allow them to come out with a such simple reason as "its fate!". (How can they explain Ruka becoming female? That's a WHOLE life of difference)

I'm more leaning toward the "bittersweet"/"dream" ending in which all of them forget about the whole encounter due to their time manipulation! But Mayuri has to be saved!

The power of Osananajimis. But will it be enough to save her!?

It has to be, I'm preparing a couple of witches to release under the Nitro+ office if Mayuri is not safe at the end of the series.

I started to like Moeka, because she looks damn hot in that outfit

She looks hot, I can't deny it. The hairs over her rack looks GREAT.

...but she can't just kill my poor Mayuri...

I'm hoping she get redeemed in some way (maybe past backstory around why she joined the CERN?) in the future...

Moeka seems too obsessed with whoever "FB" is. She should just stay away from Mayushi and work out her own problems.

I wonder how Okarin will "defy fate" and rescue Mayuri from this cycle of death.

Yeah, Moeka as for mental state is quite broken! I wonder what happened in her past...

Finally a person that know/hope like me that Okarin WILL defy fate.

Mayuri just couldn't catch a break, no matter what. Though I feel worse for Okabe, having to go through all that to save her time and time again.

Yeah, honestly I would have broken completely my mind after the third tragic death...
