Hello everyone,
Here we are after 2 weeks of wait for another post about the game based anime series Steins Gate. Why after two weeks you say? Well the answer is pretty clear...I didn't want to watch my Mayuri die right at the end of the episode leaving me waiting for a week in pain, praying for her well-being.
Yes, I knew that they'll use the time leap to save her (and in the end she'll be saved for sure, otherwise I'm going to rage under the office of Nitro+ personally), but really it was too much for me to bear.

After the 12th episode featuring a mostly easy going love-comedy between Okabe and Kurisu, the story start for real with Moeka turning as a CERN agent trying to capture the three useful member of the lab that is Makise Kurisu, Okabe Rintarou and Itaru Hashida.
Her decision to kill off Mayuri is the real reason the whole time loop starts as Suzuha enter the scene saving the group and giving them the time to activate the machine and send Okabe's memories traveling to the past to save Mayuri from dying.
So, in this episode (13th episode) we get a glimpse of Mayuri and Okabe past together and I'll be honest in saying that Okabe gained a lot of respect from me after the scene with Mayuri at the grave of the grandmother. He care for her for real and he is implied clearly that even now is only acting the mad scientist personality!
The problem I see with the actual approach of Okabe to save Mayuri is that he is relying on himself alone. He should ask help and collaboration from Kurisu and most importantly Suzuha, as she is the only one powerful enough to really make a difference.
I can see if someone want to think that Mayuri's death is inevitable (as shown from the child making her fall into the railway), but I can't really believe Nitro+ will end up with a half-assed "Mayushii is death, but the others are happy and the future is safe so all is good!" ending. Especially for a 15+ rated game!

What can happen now? I expect at least the next episode to be still a build up for the Mayuri story arc in which the group will try everything to avert her fate and then in the subsequents episode we'll see the resolution of this arc and likely (after a couple of filler episodes again) the start of the final one.
What will the final arc talk about? No clue to be honest as there are tons of pending sub-plot and the story by itself is still too foggy to be able to see anything definite as possible story progression!

Let's hope together for a bright future for my lovely Mayuri!
Regards,
Alessio
P.S. I need a time machine to travel to the 5 of July! Need to watch the rest of this anime.
