Hello everyone,
Today we are to talk about a rather strange series currently airing in Japan at the moment.
I'm talking about Nichijou, a series based on a manga by Keiichi Arawi and animated by Kyoto Animation that was being acclaimed as one of the most anticipated series of the season.

Let's start with a synopsis :
The series follows the lives of a group of high school students and their school. Various oddities and absurdities abound, such as a robotic girl made by an eight-year-old scientist, a boy who rides a goat to school with his butler, a girl who can procure various guns out of thin air, a cat that can speak and a principal who has wrestled a deer. Despite its bizarre settings and characters, the students still lead normal lives.
Rather easy plot to configure a series that is highly resembling Azumanga Daioh in both execution, characters personality and much much more. The series gags aren't "bad", but unfortunately the humor is a little "hit or miss" and they miss quite often!

The series is divided into short sketch of 5-6 minutes presenting a particular story following one of the two groups of characters (either the loli professor family or the school friends) with random interaction with other characters in the world.
The characters are very clichè, but mostly likable. You can't expect much growth from this kind of series, but you'll enjoy knowing more about your characters.
My favourite character in this series is the energetic Yuuko (Yukko) that somehow gives more life to the series with her bright personality and her strange encounters. (Deer Wrestling anyone?!
)

The graphical style is very simple, but the details aren't missing in many artistic scenes you'll find through the series. The animation has been marvelous to date in both consistency and quality.
The sound quality is good even if not many big names are working on this series except for Mai Aizawa in Mio's role and some other. (No, Minoru Shiraishi is not a valid argument for me. I'm still scarred from his Lucky Star songs!)

I'm still halfway through the series (and hope that the series may get even better in the future), but I can safely suggest this to you if you're looking for a light, slow paced comedy series to laugh a bit.
See you soon,
