Hello everyone,
After a long time today we'll be talking again about of an OAV Series of animated films named Break Blade based on a manga written by Yunosuke Yoshinaga following mostly the same plot in the post apocalyptic continent of Cruzon.

Let's start with a synopsis :
The inhabitants of the continent of Cruzon are born with the ability to freely control quartz. Technology based on this power allows them to perform a great multitude of tasks such as shoot projectiles and pilot mobile suits (called Golems in this society). Rygart Arrow is an un-sorcerer, a rare individual who is unable to levitate even the smallest crystal. Living with his brother on a farm, he receives a letter from an old friend, Hodr, the current king. Hodr called him because an ancient type of Golem has been found in a mining shaft. No one has been able to move it and Queen Sigyn, an expert engineer, suspects that maybe an un-sorcerer might be the key to activate it.
Ok, let's start by saying that this is a series that takes the mecha approach in a very different way from Gundam and company featuring slow paced combat and a lot of more "violence" compared to them. The battle machines here are rudimental, looks and act like something you may expect from a normal society advancement (not like the imba-power Gundam from Gundam 00 for example).

The politics part of the series is also well fleshed out till now (with the expansionist war and all the ideas from our many protagonists) and you sure do get the feeling of living in that country at war when watching the anime. I'll be honest that sometimes this series gives me vibes of old style (90') anime that I can't easily throw away.
Apart from the story, the other great thing of this series (like you probably already noticed from the wallpapers) is the incredible quality in the characters design, especially when revolving around the girls of the series like my beloved Sigyn Erster.

The characters in this series are many, and most of them are well developed with some backstory and great moments. There is some growth in the characters during the series, especially around our main character that find himself from a poor farmer to a mecha pilot.
My favourite character, as you already know, is the beautiful, intelligent and sometimes cute Sigyn Erster that is the queen of the invaded country of this series and is still in love with our protagonist even if she's supposedly married.
My most hated character goes to Zess, that while he got many redeeming point thanks to some flashback, still remains an hateful character in my eyes!

The graphic quality of the series is very high with a great character design and a generally mature style to it. The animation is decent, but unfortunately is not at the same level of the design making the series lose a little in terms of consistency.
The sound quality is top notch with great seiyuu working on this project like Marina Inoue in Narvi's role, Chiwa Saitou in Sigyn's role and many others...

With the series still incomplete (last episode will be released in July) I suggest everyone to start and catch up with the episodes so that you can be prepared for the grand-finale in a month time. This is a suggested series for whoever like action anime with a bit of politics added to the top.
See you soon,

P.S. Sigyn is too cute! Hau~ Omochikaeri!!!
