Hello everyone,
Today we'll talk of a series I marathoned recently till the actual airing episode (9th episode) that is "C : The Money of Soul and Possibility Control ", an original anime series that by all ways looks like a good pick on the action/mistery category with a new evil character that can stand proud together with Kyubey in the "I want to make a deal with you" rankings.

Let's start with a synopsis :
The Japanese government was rescued from the brink of financial collapse by the Sovereign Wealth Fund. For its citizens, however, life has not improved, and unemployment, crime, suicide, and despair are rampant. Kimimaro is a scholarship student whose only dream is to avoid all this and live a stable life as a civil servant. One day, however, he meets a man who offers him the chance to make money fast. From then on Kimimaro is drawn into a mysterious realm known as "The Financial District," where people engage in supernatural battles for the possibility of money.
Ok, I was totally carried away by the plot, while simple in its execution the originality of the whole story made me marathon all nine episodes at once (very rare for me) and left me wanting for more and cursing the fact that the series is slated for only 11 episodes.

The whole concept of battles around money and micro/macro transactions is to be honest a little iffy, but watching the incredibly cute Masshu fighting the enemies is enough good to let me slide upon the shounen-like approach to the whole battles idea.
The real meat of the show anyway is not on the battlefield, but in the character interaction, the various conflicting ideas of the many characters and the continue omnipresent laughing Masakaki that refer to himself as a mere operator and not the owner of the whole system. (And then who's the real demon behind all this crap of the Midas money anyway if not Masakaki?!)
My favourite character to date is Masshu for her great personality and dedication to her "master", followed right after by Hanabi that I hope will dump his own boyfriend to hook with Kimimaro. (I'm a little biased over this as I love Yui Makino voice and every time I hear Hanabi's it seems like I'm watching Misaki from NHK ni Youkoso.

From the various character and the whole story composition (especially after the last episode in which finally the pace of the story start to accelerate), I'm leaning toward a Hanabi/Kimimaro ending in which they marry or something like that after that in some undefined way they do destroy the financial distrinct while saving and maybe restoring the parts of the world that got "deleted" in the past.
Why this you say? I don't know exactly why, but the whole series does not give me the vibes of desperation that I saw in Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, it looks more "good against evil", but it may be only my imagination.

The graphical style of the series is exceptional and both of the two main girls design (the cool Q and the hot Mashu) and the animations are good enough to make all the battles look really cool. (there are some minor problems, but they'll likely get resolved with the dvd release)
The sound quality is also very good with many great seiyuu working on this project like Haruka Tomatsu (just how many series she's doing recently?!) in Mashu's role, Yui Makino as Hanabi, etc...

I can suggest this series to anyone looking for something with a story out of the common clichè of the anime world that thanks to good production qualities can become one of the hits of this season!
See you soon,
