A Channel - Solid production values and refreshing slice of life

by feal875. June 2011 23:35

Hello everyone,

Here we are to talk yet another time (this is hopefully the last post of the catch-up with the airing of the series) of A Channel, a slice of life series currently on-air that is costantly gaining points thanks to its relaxing plot and high production values.

Yeah because the couple episodes were centered on very simple concepts, but in their own way they were successfull at giving the "slice of life" touch to the series. I'm talking about the Run and Tooru "fight" and about the Yuuko care for Tooru in asking everyone to remake the hot-cake right there.

A Channel

The fight between Run and Tooru was greatly adapted with both parties suffering from the separation. Run ended up being more distract than ever and Tooru ended up trying to drink like an old drunkard (actually it was juice, but well...Tongue out)

The great point of this series is in how they manage to take a comical step in each and every situation (it was very funny watching Tooru being treated like a child by the whole shopping district) without it looking too forced like Lucky Star for example (with its forced comedy enforced and shouted "hey, I'm funny! Look here").

A Channel

Great care is being given also at the two teachers with screen time and some info on their relationships. They are obviously the forehead lover obsessed with Run (Satou-Sensei) and the annoying female teacher that continues to harass everyone every morning with her energetic personality. (Kitou-Sensei)

From the new characters added to the recurring cast, I'm liking a lot the Yuutaka and Miho combo with all the fun they create whenever they're involved with Tooru reserved personality. Somehow they do give em off vibes of true friends!

 A Channel

Next episode? Well, I don't even remember the preview corner, but it really doesn't matter as we know it will just be another refreshing, somehow touching slice of life of our heroines!

See you soon,

A-channel is a pretty fun slice of life series, but I think it won't be one of the very memorable ones. A-channel is just well executed slice-of-life/comedy, and doesn't really do too much to "step out of the box", so to speak.

The production values are awfully nice though, and there are an Unusually large amount of insert songs. Marketed to sell, no?

Yeah, the whole concept behind A-Channel is nothing that other series haven't already explored in depth, but still it is done well. That's most of its charm.

The insert song are pretty numerous and fuwa-fuwa (if I can pick a K-On term), we'll see soon enough how they'll sell out in the near future.

I'll keep this short: Run X Tooru 4EVA! It would be nice for Yuuko to reunite with her cousin who was twice removed (Mio from K-ON!) so they can catch up...in more ways than one if you know what I mean hohoho!

Seriously this show was truly enjoyable and one of my favorites in the Spring Season.

Yuuko is MY lovely wife. >_<

Agreed, I loved the way they've been able to give a relaxing/normal life approach to the whole story. It really was an enjoyable run...let's hope for a second season sometimes soon.

Oh yes. how will Tooru eventually deal with the inevitable graduation of her longtime girlfriend Run-chan? She's thought about it but will she make love to her before then?

Well, likely the series will end there unless they try to milk the cash up like with, you know, K-On.

Which I have no problem with since K-ON was one of my fav shows last year. Besides, the team hasn't gone to Budokan yet so hopefully they'll finally do so in the upcoming movie.

Anyway, I will gladly welcome a 2nd season of A-Channel.

I also have many shows to review on my schedule. If only I were as dedicated as you are.
