Hello everyone,
Here we are for yet another review, this time of a rather popular anime series of 4 years ago named "Lucky Star", that I think almost everyone of you heard of, based on an 4coma manga with the same name written by Kagami Yoshimizu.

Let's start with a synopsis :
Portrays the lives of several school girls attending a Japanese high school with a very loose humor tone. The main heroine is Konata Izumi, an athletic and intelligent girl who, despite these attributes, is not in a sports club, and her grades remain low. Her laziness at school is due to her love for anime and video games, and she is not interested in much else.
Ok, this series market itself as a slice of life series (or well, that is what most of the purist think of it), but truly what we are watching right now is a pure comedy series with some small slice of life bits.

Yes, because each and every encounter in this series is marketed toward making you laugh. Be it for some obscure (or well, some of them were quite easy like the Da capo ones) reference, or for the otaku personality of our main heroine.
The whole story like every 4coma is a mash up of small encounters rarely longer than 4-5 minutes featuring our girls while living their whole high school life with fun and jokes.

The fun of this series is very "up and down" like I said in the title. Sometimes you get very funny jokes (loved for example most of the scenes with the Konata's dad as focus point) , sometimes things are so lame that you want to cry somewhere like well, we had with the doses every episode of the lame Lucky Channel. (but there's more in the real series)
The slice of life moments like the Konata's mother episode or the very first episode croissant talk are the same with "up and down" passing from great "wtf" moments like the whole "What's the head and what's the tail" talk to the emotional attachment of the ghost mother presence.

The character at first are very few (just 4) and the things were going very smoothly (even thought I couldn't stand Miyuki at all), but after half series other four girls appear that somehow break the pace of the series with lame jokes here and there even thought I loved the "Yaoi te nani?" of Yutaka.
My favourite character is Tsukasa Hiiragi with her cute appearance and behaviour that makes her appear the perfect "imouto type" girl to protect.

On the hate side I have Miyuki with her ojou-sama style (yes, I hate that kind of character) and Patty's personality/voice as I can't stand how they show foreigners in comedy anime, it just doesn't sound right to me.
Nevertheless each of the characters is given enough focus and you'll know all of them very well by the end of series. (even thought as you can imagine there is no growth whatsoever in each one of them)

The graphical style is very parody like, but nevertheless good for the intended objective (love Kagami/Tsukasa appearance) and the animation while it had some problem in some particular scene it is decent enough.
The sound quality is mostly top notch with many great seiyuu working on this series like Aya Hirano in Konata's role, Emiri Katou in Kagami's role, Aya Endou in Miyuki's role and many others.

Concluding, this is a suggested series for anyone looking for a nice comedy series to laugh a bit in this lively and peaceful world the characters live in.
See you soon,
