Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai - Nothing is as expected...

by feal8721. April 2011 08:53

Hello everyone,

Here we are for yet another rambling on a currently on-air series, one that particularly shocked me for the content that was just nothing I was expecting...

I'm talking about Ore-Tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai, anime series adapted from the very famous erogè with the same name.

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai

Let's start with a synopsis :

It's winter in the big city of Yanagihara, and young people will meet and fall in love. Takashi is a boy who plans to escape to another world, but is held back by thoughts of his younger sister Kobato and girlfriend Asuka. Shusuke is a poor part-timer who has to work with student-author Hiyoko in spite of their initial dislike for each other. The antisocial Hayato makes his living as a handyman until he is visited by a girl name Naru.

Ok, I knew about the story and thought it as a generic drama series with comedy segments here and there, much more like Shuffle (as after all they are from the same company and with a very similiar style)...

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai

...but to be honest I was completely unprepared to the quantity of fanservice they managed to put into the first two episodes....I mean, I did not play the game, but never would I have imaged such a quantity of fanservice in such a short amount of time.

It was more like watching a lingerie show, more than an anime at some point. Laughing

The story by itself looks generic, but very good executed and We can certainly expect a twist or two knowing that this is based on the same company that produced (and milked to death) Shuffle.

The characters are at this point very foggy in my mind and I barely remember anyone, but hopefully I'll learn their name and remember their faces in another couple of episodes.

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai

My favourite character to date is Naru Ohtori, probably because she's the most cute of the bunch and probably I'll change idea as the anime goes by. (it looks to me they'll pick up Asura route, but I hope they will pull out a twist like they've done in the Shuffle adaptation)

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai

The graphical quality is pretty good, but to be honest I'm starting to get annoyed by the character design of this guy (all the faces are THE SAME with different colors) and hoping for a change. The animation is also very good till now.

The sound quality is decent at best with almost no famous seiyuu except maybe Yuko Goto in Naru Ohtori's role and Hiro Shimono in Takashi Haneda's role.

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai

Nevertheless this may prove a strong series of this season and I'll be looking at this closely for more fanservice and hoping there won't be too much drama to turn me off later in the series.

See you soon,

I usually don't take too much interest in eroge adapted anime, and so I'm not going to be watching this. The story seems a bit too generic, but the girls sure are cute!

Mhn...Yeah generally I don't like much the adaptations they end up doing, but there are quite a few nicely adapted series (Phantom : Requiem for the Phantom and Shuffle! are an example) to keep a look at out there so there is always hope.

I think I have to go with Yi on this one. Do tell us what goes on in the latter episodes and see if you'll drop it or continue on it.

I've gotta say, you should REALLY try out the game some time feal. It's nothing like Shuffle! and has faaaar more substance to the plot and character relations than the aforementioned title. Granted, it may seem a bit slow at first, but things speed up once you get to Shuusuke and Hayato's chapters

Mhn...After all this I'll probably give it a look after I complete a couple of series that has priority atm (Aiyoku no Eustia in primis).
You sparked my interest...

The main drawback of the series for me was the graphical style that well...hopefully it is bearable in the vn.

Oh, good to know! Yeah, I was a bit turned off by the art at first (just change the eye color and hair and they all more or less have the same face, lol) but the reasons I mentioned more than makes up for it. At one point I couldn't even believe it was by the same company that made Shuffle! (don't get me wrong, it's a cute game n' all, but it isn't anything beyond generic)

And yeah? Thats awesome, just finished Aiyoku today. I've gotta say it was a great, great eroge that made good use of it's setting and the character's motives to make an epic final chapter. I'm pretty sure you'll love it, but nonetheless how are you liking/disliking the game so far?

I completed yesterday the game. I loved it, end of the story. Aiyoku no Eustia continues the great August quality. If I had to rate the chapters would be

Prelude 10/10
First Chapter 10/10
Second Chapter 8/10
Third Chapter 7/10
Fourth Chapter 10/10
Final Chapter 9.5/10

If only they would have created an happy ending...

Haha, I couldn't agree more! But it's one of those things where although you wish it could've ended another way, but it really had to end that way. Its bittersweet, but in a positive and uplifting way. Manly tears have been shed.

Hmm, so whats the next eroge/VN you plan on playing? I'll be sure to tune in!

Mhn...at the moment I'm killing time (it's not really a serious series) with the last Skyfish game "FullMetalEyes" just to wait for the real game I want to play that is the latest "light" game named Vermillion that will be out in some days.

You?

Oh? I'll check those out sometime.

Actually I'm not sure game I'm going to go to next, but yeah I'm looking forward to a relatively "light" game for now. I'm thinking of trying out Flyable Heart, been hearing some pretty good things about it
