Hello everyone,
Here we are for another quick ramble about an on-air series that got me a little surprised for the non-fanservice based plot.
I'm talking about the original anime series directed by Keizou Kusakawa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's, Strikers and Sekirei) named Dog Days.

Let's start with a quick synopsis :
In the land of Fronaldo, the Republic of Biscotti has been aggressively attacked by the Lion Kingdom of Galette. Facing potential defeat, Princess Millhiore summons a hero who can save the country. What she gets is Izumi Shinku, a middle-school boy from Japan. Awaiting him in Fronaldo is the task of becoming hero enough to defeat his enemies while learning the peculiar rules of battle in this strange new world.
I'll be honest, when I started to hear about this series I was expecting a fusion between Sekirei and Zero No Tsukaima, but I was, fortunately, wrong.

First of all, even if there are some busty character, most of the others have reasonable size and the graphical style is one that I like a lot. (it's more on the cute fantasy side rather than the cow factory Sekirei style)
Also, the animation seems till now decent so the two main minus point from Sekirei are deleted and that's a great thing! (Hoping they manage to maintain consistency for the whole duration of the series)

The story by itself is very similiar to the Zero no Tsukaima one, but fortunately this series go away from the fanservice antics of the first for a more fantastic approach to the "boy in another world" plot that till now is proving successfull for me.
Be aware that the story is nothing groundbreaking and mostly clichè for us, but nevertheless well executed.
My favourite character till now is the cute Eclair Martinozzi, even thought I'm still getting used to the characters, so this may change in the future.

Opening ("Scarlet Knight" by Nana Mizuki) and Ending ("Presenter" by Yui Horie) are good even thought I'll reserve my final judgement on them after a while as if I don't hear them 10-11 times I can't really make any judgement. (I'm more of the "hear them till you hate them" faction.
)
The sound quality is pretty good for most of the characters with some superb good acting by Nana Mizuki in Ricotta Elmar's role and Yui Horie in Millhiore F. Biscotti's role.

Concluding, this is a suggested series for this season for everyone looking for a relaxed, old-style, fantasy/comedy series with the clichè content we're all used to!
This is another season I plan to do some more post as soon as the story develops a little more!
See you soon,
