Hello everyone,
Let's go ahead with yet another review, this time we'll review a fanservice manga/anime series that got well two anime season, but it didn't really live up to the expectations...

Let's start with a synopsis :
Minato is a total loser. He's failed to make it into college twice, he's unpopular with women, and he's unemployed. But suddenly one day he met a girl dashing inhumanely fast down the road he walked, chased by 2 bandits with electrical powers. From that day on Minato's life changed forever. The Girl, Musubi was not any ordinary girl she was a "Sekirei", and suddenly she just bestows Minato with the power of an Ashikabi, one of a mysterious set of "masters" in an awesome battle royale between hordes of cute girls (and males) with individual special powers called "Sekirei's".
No words on the plot this series is trying to give us, totally bullshit without much of a credibility in any of it. (starting with the crazy guy closing up an entire city for the experiment)

But ignoring the plot (hell, this is a fanservice series, you are not here for the plot anyway), the series does deliver some quality fanservice and comedy scenes of the many beautiful girls of this world.
The content is mostly clichè with some nice action scene here and there to make it look good. (some of the scenes were quite good to be honest)

The characters are many (the Sekirei are over 100) and mostly monodimensional and void of any interesting focus making difficult to even remember most of them (except maybe the main girls).
There is some time dedicated to the backstory of the characters, but there is no growth whatsoever in the characters personality.

My favourite character? No, sorry I don't have any favourite character in this series unfortunately, the girls personality aren't that bad, but the graphical style they used to draw them (I hate it) turned me off completely.
But I have a hated character, that is Tsukiumi with her annoying tsundere personality. (or maybe it's hateful only because of the graphical style as I found myself liking this same behaviour in other anime)

The graphical quality is very good even thought I deeply hated the style they used to draw the girls (they looked like cows more than girls to be honest).
The animation was horrible with incredible problems here and there lacking completing consistency. (I haven't watched the dvd, and I'm basing my judgement on the TV broadcast)

The sound quality was quite good, but nothing exceptional even thought there are some big names working on this series like Jun Fukuyama in Hayato's role, Kana Ueda in Yomi's role, and some others.
Both opening and ending were quite unimpressive and nothing to speak much about.

Concluding, this is a decent fanservice series with a no-brainer plot and some well paced battles tortured by incomplete and marginal animation.
I suggest this series only if you happen to like cows...cough, this kind of graphical style.
See you soon,
