Hello everyone,
This time we'll talk about a very recent and rather successfull manga/anime series that got well two season adaptation and quite a number of followers.
I'm talking about Arakawa Under the Bridge based on an original work by Hikaru Nakamura

Let's start with a synopsis :
Ichinomiya Kou has always lived according to the creed of his wealthy, successful family: never be in debt to anyone. But one day, under the Arakawa Bridge, his life is saved by a homeless girl named Nino. In order to pay her back, Kou promises to be her boyfriend; and thus begins his new life under the bridge.
Yeah, from the first would look like a normal romantic comedy, but wrong...this is something no human being can really explain in simple terms.

It has comedy, it's true, but there is also drama added on the top of it. There is also romance, but sometimes it is taken seriously, sometimes a bit less.
This series is a mix of everything the mind of the creator can put into a single setting meshed together. (from what I heard, the manga is even a lot more confusing than this)

The main point is that this series start as fresh and interesting and I literally loved it until toward the end of the first season/begin of the second one when I started losing interest on the characters and the obscure references and jokes they try to crack. (some of them not that funny to be honest)

The characters are many and most of them should be references to particular life problem, but that aspect is so neglected (except maybe for Nino's situation) during the two season that they only looks like crazed people amassed in a single place.
The only good character of the series is Nino, she's beautiful, have a nice voice and is pretty cute in her own way. (And well, she's crazed like the rest of the cast)

The graphical quality is pretty good even if you'll need a while to adapt to the style (It's a shaft production after all) and the animation is mostly consistent with little problems you won't even notice.
The sound quality is discrete, with as only decent seiyuu in an important role Maaya Sakamoto in Nino's role.
Pretty good the opening songs of the series (loved "Venus to Jesus" by Etsuko Yakushimaru), while outright horrible all the songs by Hoshi during the whole series. (even as ED sometimes)

What should we add about this series? It's a good series that'll keep your interest up for a while, but definitely not a masterpiece.
Go and watch it if you like the comedy/romance genre, but be prepared to withstand massive amount of sheer crazyness for the whole duration of it!
See you soon,
