Hello everyone,
Let's go ahead with yet another review of an original anime series named Futakoi Alternative that act like a spin-off from the "classic" love-comedy Futakoi and put the same characters in a more action-active world (with a particular pair of twin as main characters).

Let's start with a synopsis :
The Futaba Detective Agency, being run by Rentarou, who has taken over the family business, after his father's death 3 weeks ago. Along w/ Sara & Souju, his live-in identical twin assistants.
Ok, that's the most probably everyone can say about this series, because this series is confusing to say the least...

The first episode just blew me out with tons of characters introduction, random and crazy story and action here and there and to be honest even after watching this series twice I still have to understand much about it. (loved the scene where Rentarou run away from yakuza/police thought)
The series is highly episodic and follow for the first part of the series a rather comedy/light approach...until the end of the series when they switch between heavy drama and comedy many times.

I just can't remember how many times I was there caring about the two sisters (Shirogane's one) and their situation (and here I thought, oh it's drama....) and then they pull out the alien influence, a random battle and everything is deleted with random concepts here and there.
Nevertheless, it is a funny plot that it'll make you laugh more than once if you can stand the randomness.

The characters are many, most of them are twins (hence the name Futakoi) and most of them are very likable even thought you'll barely remember some of them with less screen-time. (they do have more screentime in the original series thought)
My favourite characters are the two Shirogane Sisters (Souju and Sara), they was pretty high in my global ranking until they got that half assed ending, but well they're still cute and all so it's all good.

The graphical quality of this series is pretty good for the time and I like a lot the design of the girls in both this and the original Futakoi series. The animation is unfortunately sometimes very lacking, especially in the action packed scens.
The sound quality is top notch with a massive amount of famous seiyuu working for this series like Yui Horie in Kaoruko Ichijou's role, Ami Koshimizu in Sumireko Ichijou's role, Kaori Mizuhashi in Sara Shirogane's role and many many others.
Loved also the rather melodramatic ending song of this series named "Bokura no Jikan" by eufonius.

Concluding, this is a rather funny and interesting series if you watch it with the good approach, just don't expect them to follow a regular story. This series is pure randomness!
See you soon,
