Hello everyone,
This time we'll go on reviewing another nice series from the past, one of the most funny (if you are able to catch the jokes that is) named Pani Poni Dash that have both a manga (original) and anime adaptation.

Let's start with a synopsis :
The 11 year old Miyamoto Rebecca becomes the new teacher of a classroom which is full of weirdos. Despite her cute looks she's a little beast and can be pretty sarcastic and offensive. The school is not safe anymore now that she's in charge of a class and her students, Himeko, Ichijou, Rei and a white rabbit who took a liking to Rebecca help her to rough up the school and the neighbour-class with its teacher "jijii."
Let's start by saying that this series has no plot linearity or flow that you need to follow or understand.
In fact you can watch an episode in the middle and you'll not understand anything in both cases (if you watched the whole series till that point or not)

Yes, because this story is highly episodic and the content very focused on delivering comedy and references to many popular tv shows, anime and other stuff. (Hell we even had a Nurupo! reference. That's a long old obscure meme for "null pointer exception" in java!
)
If you don't have very solid japanese knowledge, this story will take you more than a couple of runs to understand fully!

From the episodes the one I most liked was the one where Serizawa Akane (one of my favourites characters) has to take Rebecca place during a Parents Association visit to the school (I love how they depicted the members of this association with masks and hateful speeches. ) with all the angst when trying to protect her life and Rebecca Miyamoto's workplace.

The characters are many (more than 30) and all of them is given a little of screen-time causing you to not remember most of the cast aside from the 1-C class members and Rebecca Miyamoto.
There is obviously no growth in our characters as this is not a series to be taken seriously. (it's comedy/parody genre after all)

This series have many likable characters, my favourites are Akane Serizawa (the drama club member. Loved all her appearance in the series), Rebecca Miyamoto (our main character, well her voice is Chiwa Satou and I love her!) an Ichijou (with her mysterious aura and incredible happenings all around her)
But to be honest most of the cast is so good (except 1-2 annoying one) that probably I could put everyone in my favourites list.

The graphical quality is top notch for the time (this is a Shaft series, so expect some strange stuff in it thought) and the animation is consistent in most of the episodes.
The opening and ending animations were colorful and lovable with that particular style you get used after watching a couple of Shaft produced series.

The sound quality is also top notch with many big names working on this project like Chiwa Saitou in Rebecca Miyamoto's role, Kana Ueda in Kurumi Momose's role, Yui Horie in Miyako Uehara's role and many others.
The opening and ending songs were quite catchy, the one I most liked is the third opening named "Shoujo Q" sung by the entire 1-C class (depending on the episode).

Concluding this series has great production values, a lot of mindless fun in it so I can't do anything else than suggest to anyone who loves comedy and have a good grasp of the japanese language!
See you soon,
