Hello everyone,
here we are to talk about another original anime series that aired quite some years ago (between 2004 and 2005) and that got a lot of attention in that period. The anime is named "Mai Hime" and is a part of a number of series around the same series of characters (but in other works in completely different roles)

Let's start up with a synopsis :
Tokiha Mai and her sickly younger brother, Takumi, have received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Fuuka Academy. On the way, the ferry they are travelling on becomes the site of a destructive battle between two girls wielding apparently supernatural powers. This is only the beginning of their troubles, as Mai learns that she herself possesses these powers - the powers of a HiME.
Yeah, this is a male-oriented battle story with plenty of girls and a reasonable amount of fanservice, but don't misunderstand me. This is not "High School of the Dead" as this show has a real plot that follows and a quite good one to be honest.

All the story revolves around the discovery of the origin of the powers these girls have and the way they react to the changes that these powers create in the relationships between the characters.
Yes, because the rule is that when your familiar (Orphan) die, the most important person to you disappear.

The killings are rather brutal and abrupt during the series making you wonder "who's going to die next?!" (after they started calling Sunrise's killings "Trainwreck" exactly for this anime)
The ending of the story is the real problem of this series as it was a rather lame way to try to fix everything while really nothing get fixed. (All the conflicts disappear magically after the mass resurrect?!)

The characters are many and to be honest you'll not remember most of them except for the main one. There isn't much growth in the personalities as they remain pretty much static during the series.
My favourite character is Natsuki Kuga with her serious and rationale way of thinking. (other than her gorgeous body
)

The graphical quality was pretty high for the time it aired and the animation is mostly consistent during all the episodes. (at least in the dvd version I watched. I don't know in the original air)
Opening and Ending animation were good, but nothing exceptional or worth to be mentioned.

The seiyuu involved into this project are famous and very good. The voice acting is one of the best of the last years. (Worth noting the role of Saeko Chiba in Natsuki Kuga's role)
The opening and ending songs were nothing of exceptional, while one of the IN songs was really wonderful. The name was "It's Only The Fairy Tale" sung by Yuko Miyamura in the episode 15!

Concluding, , this is one of the anime I suggest to everyone has to watch. It has a rather interesting plot (if you forget about the ending), some interesting main characters, stunning visual quality (for the time at least) and wonderful voice acting!
See you tomorrow,
