Hello everyone,
Here we are for another post (I have to recover the lost post of yesterday evening
)
This time we'll talk about one of the most famous anime of the current generation, the one that can possibly be called the mother (or father?) of all moè anime out there. Yes, I'm talking about K-On!

This is one of the series with the most massive amount of wallpaper in my collection (I have 500+ wallpapers of this series I'll be going to share with you little by little with various posts) due most likely by the very active fanbase out there.
Let's start with a synopsys :
It's Yui Hirasawa's first year in high school, and she's eagerly searching for a club to join. At the same time, Ritsu Tainaka, a drummer, and her friend Mio Akiyama, a bass player, are desperately trying to save the school's light music club, which is about to be disbanded due to lack of members. They manage to recruit Tsumugi Kotobuki to play the keyboard, meaning they only need one more member to get the club running again. Yui joins, thinking it will be an easy experience for her to play the castanets, the only instrument she knows. However, the other members think their new addition is actually a guitar prodigy...
Yes, as clear in the synopsis this is a slice and life show. You will not get much progress in the storyline and just live some common days in the life of these schoolgirls and their musical club.

The story is pretty flat, but funny enough to get you interested in continuing watching. Be it only for the cuteness of most of the characters (Azunyan anyone?).
One thing you'll immediately notice is that there are no males in this world or well, no male gets screentime. The only male out there is the guy selling musical instruments that is anyway never showed up!

The characters are the very definition of cute and kind, you'll not see much hate around any character in this story. You'll get to know them and remember them soon enough as they have some particular trait that let you distinguish easily between them.
My favourite character is by far Yui Hirasawa, I love her cute antics like rolling on the floor. (even if Mio comes as a near second in my rankings)

The visual quality is one of the best in the recent years, but the animation have some hickup that makes it lose consistency in some episodes. (low budget?!)
Opening and Ending animations are wonderful and very original (does not show footage from the anime, but new content) and adapt them very well to the song being played.

The sound quality is also very high, the seiyuu that worked on this project were all newcomer, but have done a fantastic job portraying the characters and their personality. (A special note should be given to Aki Toyosaki for her Yui role. She was the best out there for me)
Opening and Ending songs were hit in Japan and are of very high quality. I loved particularly "Listen!" that is the first ending of the second season of the anime.

Even thought the story is complete with the second season, recently have been the announcement of a K-On Animated Movie that should air on 03 december 2011 and seems to be a sequel (university?!) of the two seasons.
It should be interesting in watching how they'll manage to wrap it up!

Concluding, if you're looking for a nice anime to pass some relaxed time watching cute girls do cute things (that should be a reasonable summary of the story
) this is going to be your best pick.
It is also a nice anime for a newcomer as it has a rather bland fanservice and no questionable content.
See you soon,
