Hello everyone,
This time we'll dig through history to review one of the oldest Light Novel/manga/anime I've ever followed. Based upon a long standing light novel, we had in the 2003 the anime adaptation (24 episodes) of "Maburaho" by Toshihiko Tsukiji.

Let's start up with the classic synopsis :
His name is Kazuki Shikimori, 17 years old. He attends Aoi Academy, a school for elite magicians. Each magician has a set limit of spells, and performing more spells than the limit allows will cause the user to turn into dust. In this case, the number of magic Kazuki can use is far below the average in his school. Then one day, all of a sudden, three girls: Yuuna Miyama, Kuriko Kazetsubaki and Rin Kamishiro, appear before him. But of all the things that they are after, it is his genes. And for Kazuki, the girls' appearances may also spell his doom, as he soon realizes that his magic count is decreasing ever steadily due to the fact that he can't resist using magic to help them.
Sounds like the classic harem story, and yes it is.
While has an interesting concept, the main focus of the series is the comedy and romance that ensues between all the girls following Kazuki for his power!

There are however quite a lot of twist through the story and while predictable the story is always fun and fresh.
The characters are few, but all likable including the main character, and they do have some growth through the series and their relationship change slowly over time.
The story revolves mainly around Kazuki and the three heroines around him with little interest or focus over the other characters.

The graphical quality is very high (for the time) and the animation consistent for all the episodes. (As always by J.C. Staff)
The seiyuu involved in the project aren't the most famous (except for Hitomi Nabatame and someone else), but do a fantastic job impersonating the characters.

I quite liked both Opening and Ending of the series, especially "We'd Get There Someday" by Ichiko (the ending) was particularly nice and relaxing to listen to.

My favourite character in this series is Yuna, the "classic" heroine deredere over our main character.
But to be truthful in this particular anime all three are almost at the same level of like for me.

Concluding, this may be an old anime, but is certainly one you should see if you like harem/comedy genre.
See you soon,
