Hello,
Here we are talking about one of the hits of this season of anime...at least from the point of lines of text spent on various blogs. (there are a massive amount of blogs talking about this anime in one way or another)
This original anime series is named Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika, produced by Shaft with as director the always present Akiyuki Shinbo!

Let's go read the synopsys and then we'll go with some impressions :
There exist familiars who have the power to grant one wish to a chosen girl. However, that girl must then become a magical girl and fight against witches, evil creatures born from curses that are responsible for murders and suicides. A schoolgirl named Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki are approached by a familiar named Kyubey and magical girl named Mami Tomoe with offers of becoming magical girls. Another magical girl named Homura Akemi tries to prevent Madoka from making such a deal.
Till here it looks like a normal Mahou Shoujo anime...please don't be deceived. This is a SHAFT anime, you have to get Shafted in one way or another.

Other than the Faust alluding theme in the first episodes with excerpts from the original german novel, the abstract (should I call them this way?
) backgrounds that makes really little to no sense and totally evil looking familiar (Kyubey, I'm looking at you) compared by some blog to Mephistopheles of the Faust story, what more you can get with this anime?
Yes, you can always get higher. They kill off one main character in less than 3 episodes in a brutal way, and now the talk in the blogs is "when is going to die Sayaka"? Yes they do not even think it would survive, they just are counting the episodes before her death and unfortunately I can't think of them wrong giving the conditions...
Excluding this whiny talk, the anime quality is very high (as usual by Shaft standard) and the story is interesting enough (be it only for following the deaths or for the ridiculous battle scenes) that makes you want for more costantly. (And I'm planning to buy some of the manga they're producing on the story too).
The graphical style is very similiar to the Hidamari Sketch one, so sometimes it seems like you're seeing your Yunocchi even here.
Another good note on this regard is the soundtrack. The OP and the ED and all the musics used are really of high quality and detailed. The ED is named "Magia" by Kalafina and OP is named "Connect" by Claris.

That's all for now...gotta go speculate who'll die the next episode,

P.S. I can't stop thinking that they'll pull out a Sunrise ending.
(Somebody said Mai Hime?)
