Today we'll have a small preview of one of the upcoming fall season 2012 anime series named To Love Ru Darkness, a "sequel" story set in the same world as the original To Love Ru focusing more on the characters of Konjiki no Yami and Momo Velia Deviluke.
I read this series since the very first volume (I'm a fan of the original manga) and I was quite surprised when I noticed that it got green-lighted for anime in this upcoming fall season.
Why? Well, the reaction to the second season was "lukewarm" in sales volumes (around 6K per volume) and I thought they scrapped the idea of giving this franchise a third anime season at all.
Here we are again to have a talk about some common anime topic while waiting for the winter season 2011 to properly start in a few days time next week. (at the moment only a pre-air version of Rinne no Lagrange's first episode got aired).
In this week, I had quite a "heated" discussion around the web with some friends on the meaning of "popularity and success of an anime series" after the sales quantity information of the first volume of the fall season anime got released to the public. (thanks to alex for the heads up)
The concepts of "popularity" and "success" of an anime series are two very different concepts based on different premises. Analyzing these two concepts I tried to understand a bit more the invisible wall dividing Japan from the rest of the world.
Here we are for another of our usual loot-post (the last one was at the end of May) regarding the shipment of manga I get from Japan every around two months or so except when I have some urgent updates to get. (Like with the 10 volumes order in april)
Bored from the normal reviews, I decided to open a new type of post from today on, the character focus in which I'll try to do some insight upon a single character that I particularly loved in an anime series. (may do some of these post in a week just to maintain variety in the content of the blog)
This time we'll talk about one of the most loved To Love Ru character named Kotegawa Yui!
After so much time from the last post about it let's get back to review To Love Ru, a rather famous Manga/Anime series that already concluded its run (if you don't count the spinoff To Love Ru Darkness). With 18 manga volumes and 2 anime series is the biggest manga series I followed till now (And i plan to get the spin-off too ).
